Hari Raya Celebrations
As the restrictions begin to ease, we are so glad to have been able to host a small Hari Raya Celebration at our centre in May!
We welcomed our little ones and their families to yummy food, activities and just a good time to celebrate the festivities together as a community.
We hope they had a good time and we look forward to more of such events with the Children's Wishing Well community.
Happy Birthday May Babies
On the note of celebrations, we also finally resumed our group birthday celebrations in May.This is something we have not been able to have since COVID-19.
We gathered the birthday children, had some yummy food, cake and of course their favourite part: gifts! It was so amusing that after 2 years of the pandemic, our children were automatically waving their hands to put out the flame instead of blowing out their candle. It will probably be a while before they get used to blowing out their candles again.
It was fun catching up with the birthday babies as a group and hearing about their plans and wishes. We look forward to continuing our monthly celebrations from hereon.
How does a primary schooler view herself?
One with bold purple eye liner and a pretty heart choker. The other with long eyelashes and a black/pick choker.
We were especially surprised by the purple eye liner because she is one of our smallest girls, youngest of 4 sisters, and only 8 years old! We rarely hear her voice and she comes off as a quiet timid girl. When asked why her eye liner was purple and not black, she said it was her favourite colour.
This just goes to show that little girls can have such bold personalities within them! Follow us over on our social media @childrenswishingwell to check out more.
Packing and Distribution of School Gift Packs
Thank you to the volunteers who signed up to help with the packing and distribution of school backpacks.
We were so glad to see enthusiastic new volunteers and also returning volunteers to support us in this mid-year distribution.
Meanwhile, we are still on the lookout for volunteers for long-term Secondary tutoring and one experienced tutor for a P5 student. Do reach out to us at info@wishingwell.org.sg if you are keen to explore.
We look forward to having more volunteer opportunities this year and meeting more of you.
