BJH Upcoming Events

We hope that all of our parents and their students are able to say the same! The kids have adjusted to the new telecommunication rules with very few problems. The dress code has only needed gentle reminders. The students have already settled in to the way we do things at #ourhouse as far as our high expectations for behavior and hard work in our classrooms. We hope that the students continue to meet and often exceed our expectations for them. Please continue to communicate with your child's teachers or our administrative team if you have any questions or concerns regarding BJH. We look forward to what seem could be our best year yet!!

Mrs. Fleming

Pictures will be this Thursday. 6th graders take their pictures during 1st period. 7th and 8th graders take their pictures during 2nd period. Please encourage your child to take a little extra time to look nice for their yearbook photo!

Mrs. Fleming has worked to bring this presentation to the Bowie community for over a year. To say this is an eye-opening presentation is an understatement. Even if you don't think YOUR kids are not experimenting with drugs and alcohol, it doesn't mean that it isn't happening in our small town. Become aware of what is out there and what our kids can get their hands on, some things even LEGALLY! This is 45 minutes that can change what you think you know about raising a teen in today's world. I can't recommend this enough. Drop your child off at the back-to-school dance at the gym and join us in the auditorium to hear the presentation. We will be finished in plenty of time to pick them up from the dance.

PASS will sponsor our Back to School Dance. Admission is $5. Concessions will be available. The school dress code is enforced. No bags, purses, or outside food or drink will be allowed.

We would like to encourage you to continue having conversations about school wardrobe choices with your BJH student. They must be working because we have had fewer violators than in year's past.

The "measuring stick" we provided everyone at Meet the Teacher was meant to be a visual reminder and a physical tool for students to use to become accountable for their own choices regarding their dress and adherence to the rules.

As I have stated before, dress code is like a speed limit—whether we agree or not, the rule should be followed, or consequences will occur. Not every dress code violation is caught, just as not all speeders are pulled over, but enforcement is necessary in both cases. We hope that our students continue to abide by all BISD policies so that student learning can continue to be where our teachers and administrators can spend their time.

We would like to thank you for supporting us in this significant change for our students. There have been very few "bumps" in the road. We will continue enforcing the rules and enjoy seeing our kids talking to their friends at lunch instead of keeping their "streaks" going on their phones. Again, thank you for your partnership in this and all of our BISD policies.
