Reminder: Please Leave Toys, Key Chains & Squishies at Home
Please remember that personal toys are not permitted in the classroom or at school. This policy includes popular squishy and gel-filled toys such as NeeDoh, sensory dumplings, banana squishies, and butter/slime toys.
While we understand these items can be fun, bringing them to school creates a few key challenges:
Instructional Distraction: Toys often turn into trading items, shareables, or focal points during class time, drawing attention away from instruction and learning.
Mess and Property Damage: Gel, foam, and slime toys can tear or burst, spilling sticky contents onto carpets, desks, clothing, and learning materials, which can be difficult to clean and potentially ruin personal items.
Safety & Conflict: Toys brought from home can lead to accidental loss, damage, or peer conflicts when shared or traded.
If your child requires specific accommodations or approved sensory tools for learning, please contact their teacher directly to coordinate an appropriate, approved plan. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, focused, and positive learning environment for all students!
Hearing & Vision Screening
Vision and Hearing Screening will take place on Thu, Oct 22. All 1st graders will be screened for both vision and hearing. All 3rd and 5th graders will be screened for vision. If your student wears glasses, please ensure your child wears them to ensure accurate screening results. Parents will be notified if possible vision or hearing concerns are identified. If you do not wish your student to participate, please email both your student’s teacher and kimberly.jeong@moundsviewschools.org. If you have further questions, please contact the Health Office at 651-621-7804.

Ballot Question Impacts All Public Schools
This fall, a proposed amendment to the Minnesota Constitution would increase annual funding to public school districts without raising individual income or property taxes. It will appear on the November 3, 2026, general election ballot.
If approved by voters, Mounds View Public Schools would receive an additional $371,000 annually.
Leaving the constitutional amendment question blank has the same effect as voting no. Approval requires a majority of all voters participating in the election, not merely a majority of those who answer the amendment question.
