MHS Students, Families, and Staff,

As we move into the spring season, we want to take a moment to reaffirm our commitment to maintaining a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all Marysville High School students.

At MHS, our expectations are grounded in our PBIS standards. We expect all students to be:

Respectful – Treating peers, staff, officials, and community members with dignity at all times. This includes appropriate language, positive behavior at rallies and athletic events, and responsible digital citizenship.

Responsible – Arriving to class on time, attending school daily, following campus procedures, and making choices that contribute to a productive learning environment. Students are also responsible for keeping our campus clean and secure.

Healthy – Making choices that support physical and emotional well-being. This includes resolving conflicts appropriately, avoiding harmful behaviors, and contributing to a campus culture where everyone feels safe and supported.

Engaged – Actively participating in class, school activities, athletics, and extracurricular programs. Engagement strengthens learning, builds relationships, and enhances school pride.

Safety is a shared responsibility. We ask for continued partnership from students, staff, and families to reinforce these expectations both in and out of the classroom. When we consistently model and uphold these standards, we create a campus culture that reflects the very best of Marysville High School.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us ensure that MHS remains a place where all students can learn, grow, and thrive.

🖤🧡MHS Game Changer🧡🖤 🖤🧡MHS Game Changer🧡🖤

The following post was shared by the Marysville Chinese Community via Facebook. Congratulations to Taegan Jung. We are so proud to have you represent Marysville High School on campus and in our community!:

"The Bok Kai Parade & Festival Committee is proud to announce Taegan Jung as the 2026 Bok Kai Ambassador.

Taegan Jung is a 17-year-old senior at Marysville High School, where he is actively involved in school life and athletics. Following graduation, Taegan plans to attend college and continue playing baseball, pursuing both his academic and athletic goals.

Taegan’s roots in the Marysville community run deep. His mother, Christy (Escheman) Jung, is a lifelong Marysville resident and fellow Marysville High School alumna. His father, Randal Jung, who is Chinese, grew up in Madeira before relocating to the Marysville area. Continuing a proud family tradition, Taegan’s sister, Meah Jung, served as the Bok Kai Hostess in 2022.

Congratulations to Taegan Jung!"

The Counseling Department is currently working with students on course selections for the 26-27 school year. Please review the packets of information that came home with your students. There is important information about graduation requirements, A-G requirements, CTE pathways, course change protocols, and more. Please also encourage your students to do their very best to pass their classes (final grades in June determine whether credits are earned or not). Failing a class can affect the students course selections for the coming year, and can jeopardize their graduation status.

Dear Parents/Guardians of Junior Students:

Cal Grants Awards are free money provided by the State of California to help pay for the costs of college. Graduating high school seniors who meet academic and eligibility requirements may qualify to receive a Cal Grant. Marysville High School is committed to providing students with this opportunity and will automatically submit the required student Grade Point Average (GPA) to the California Student Aid Commission (www.calgrants.org).

To be considered for Cal Grant awards, students must also complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 2, 2027. In the fall, counselors work with senior students to complete this application. Workshops will also be available for families to get help.

Dreamers and DACA students do not qualify for Federal Aid. However, they may be eligible for state and/or college financial aid through submission of the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) . Most states and colleges use information collected on the FAFSA or CADAA to determine eligibility for financial aid.

If you decide NOT to participate in these opportunities, please contact Carol Wood, Counseling Secretary by August 28, 2026 to request the Cal Grant GPA OPT-OUT form. By opting out, the student WILL NOT be considered for a Cal Grant Award. If the opt-out form is not received, your student’s information will automatically be submitted to the California Student Aid Commission. If you have any questions, please contact the counseling department at 530-741-6180.

PBIS Team PBIS Team

PBIS meets the 4th Monday of every month and we are looking for a parent to join the team. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports and our goal is to find positive ways to encourage students to be respectful, responsible, healthy, and engaged on campus. If you want to be part of the team working to make a positive impact on school culture, consider coming to a meeting to see what it's all about!

Parents who are interested in participating, please contact Mrs. Walker at mwalker@mjusd.com

ID cards will be delivered to you in a few weeks. Until then, download the 5star Students app on your phone. We use the app for all sorts of fun things on campus like voting for royalty, completing surveys, and signing up for events, but one of the best parts is the digital ID card that syncs to Aeries. This digital ID is as official as your physical school ID card. Please use the 5star ID for admission to events and athletic games until our physical IDs come in.

Leave of Grounds Pass Leave of Grounds Pass

As a reminder, MJUSD has a closed campus policy. Campus is closed for all students, including during lunch and break. Students needing to leave campus during school hours must have a valid Leave of Grounds Pass.

UPDATE:

All fall semester Leave of Grounds Passes will be extended through the end of January to allow families time to complete spring renewals.

To renew a Leave of Grounds Pass for the spring semester, parents/guardians must contact the Attendance Office directly. Renewal is required each semester to ensure accurate records and student safety.

Please note:

  • Any student without a renewed Leave of Grounds Pass by February 1 will have their leave-of-grounds privileges revoked.

  • Students without a valid pass will be expected to remain on campus during the school day.

If you have questions or would like to renew your student’s pass, please contact the Attendance Office as soon as possible.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe and orderly campus.

Sincerely,
Marysville High School Administration

Established in 1871, Marysville High School is one of California’s first public high schools. Its War Memorial Stadium, built in 1949 to honor World War veterans, is a top venue for high school football. MHS has fielded a team for over 100 years. In 2017, the field was renamed Glen E. Harris Field in honor of Mr. Harris, who dedicated over 30 years to the community and served as a Marysville Joint Unified School District Board member. Go Indians! 🏈
