Laura’s Village empowers adults with special needs by nurturing their unique abilities, fostering independence, ensuring dignity, and building community.

We value community, celebration, and faith.

Kicking off the fall schedule! Kicking off the fall schedule!

Fall schedules bring routine, and routines bring comfort. The calendar below will have more details, and we are excited to back in the full swing of routines with:

  • Empowered Abilities
  • ABLEd Fitness
  • Village Workshops
  • Davidson College Buddy Club
  • Village Support Meetings for parents and caregivers

NOTE: The next Village Support Meeting will be during the Davidson College Buddy Club on Sept. 12th, from 11:30 - 12:30. Ryan Platt, A Special Needs Plan, will be talking to us about tax considerations and strategies for families of individuals with special needs. This meeting is free, and Ryan welcomes any questions you may have. While parents meet with Ryan, our adults will enjoy time with Davidson College Buddies nearby.

Please sign up HERE if you plan to attend the Village Support Meeting, so Ryan can plan accordingly.

Help us help our community! Help us help our community!

September and October bring two workshops for our friends, both of which will focus on giving back to our community. We are collaborating with Little Smiles, Iredell Council on Aging, Bags of Hope, and Samaritan's Purse. Can you help provide supplies? Thank you for taking time to shop our Amazon wishlist!

IMPORTANT: Medicaid Update IMPORTANT: Medicaid Update

If you're on the Innovations Waiver waitlist, are you prepared?

Ask for a hard copy of your original registration date.

In today’s digital world, many important documents can be accessed through the cloud, so keeping hard copies may not always seem necessary. However, having a paper record of critical information can provide peace of mind in the event of a technology issue, lost records, or an unexpected system outage.

One document worth keeping is confirmation of your child’s or adult’s Innovations Waiver registration date. To ensure you have documentation of the original registration date, contact your LME/MCO and request a letter confirming the date your child or adult was initially registered for the Innovations Waiver. You can request that the letter be mailed to your home. Once received, we recommend keeping the original in a safe place and storing a digital copy as well.

A little preparation now can help protect important information for the future.

As a reminder, Vaya Health and Partners Health announced that they will merge and become one Managed Care Organization called Vaya Partners effective October 1, 2026. Vaya Partners will cover 47 counties and will serve approximately 220,000 members. You can read more HERE.
