Texan Roots Nature Trail
Today was an exciting day at Blue Hole Primary as we officially celebrated the grand opening of our Texan Roots Nature Trail! For almost ten years, this trail was an idea. Something we hoped could one day become part of Blue Hole. Then our 2025–2026 Buckaroos, staff, and families believed in it, picked up their books, and made it possible. They read the pages that built this path.
This trail is more than a place to play. It is a place to learn, explore, create, and grow together. During Texan Roots Week, our students have turned our TEXAN values into action. They have become designers, architects, and engineers as they worked together to create plans for four grade-level play areas, along with our fifth shared play area.
We hope to partner with our amazing community to bring these ideas to life by creating outdoor classrooms, stages, and spaces where students can continue learning and discovering in nature.
We are incredibly grateful to the many people who helped make this dream possible.
A special thank you to our Trailblazing Sponsors, Kara and David Oldham, owners of Texan Landscape, and Kristin Williams, Wonderworld Cave & Adventure Park for supporting our vision and investing in our students. A huge shout out to Becca Dickey for leading this incredible project and heading up the entire operation. Her time, dedication, and hard work have helped bring the Texan Roots Nature Trail to life.
Thank you to all the volunteers who worked hard to clear our nature-play areas and prepare this space for our children. We also want to recognize the Wimberley High School Practicum students, Max Chesser, 11th grade, and Basil Ivicic, 12th grade, for the work they contributed to our trail.
I also want to thank the WHS Ag Mechanics team for building our frame, and to our partners at the Wimberley Fire Department and WYSA, who helped support this project throughout the summer.
This trail is a wonderful example of what happens when a school and community come together. It represents curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and the belief that our students deserve meaningful spaces to learn and grow.
To our school community, let's take care of our trail by staying on the designated paths, explore with curiosity, and continue being good neighbors to one another.
Welcome to the Texan Roots Nature Trail! Let's make some memories, discover something new, and grow together!
Thank you!!
Afternoon Pick Up
🚗 Afternoon Pickup Reminder
As a reminder, students who have not been picked up by 3:25 p.m. will be brought to the front office to wait for their families. We understand that some families have children attending multiple campuses, and we are happy to accommodate you as you make your way through afternoon dismissal. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we work to ensure all students are safely supervised and reunited with their families.
Partnering Together- Lice
WISD teachers and administrators work to eradicate lice at school as part of our routine procedures.
What are the signs and symptoms?
People with head lice usually have severe itching. Lice or their shiny grayish white eggs or nits are visible on the affected scalp.
How can you help?
Parents/Guardians are our number one partner in stopping the spread of lice by looking for signs and symptoms, and treating their children until they are completely clear of lice.
How do lice spread?
Lice primarily spread with head-to-head contact and while less likely, from sharing clothing or belongings.
What is the best way to get rid of lice on my child?
Treat the affected scalp with shampoos or cream rinses approved by the FDA that can be purchased without a prescription at a drug or grocery store. After the first treatment, you may not see live lice, but you might see nits—comb out these lice eggs with a special nit comb. A second treatment and combing are necessary. For more information, visit: https://dshs.texas.gov/schoolhealth/lice.shtm?terms=lice
Is it safe to use fumigant sprays on an affected scalp?
No, this is never recommended. Fumigants can be toxic if inhaled or absorbed through the skin.
What is the truth about lice?
Lice can not hop or jump from one head to another—they can only crawl and are spread by sustained direct contact. Lice are not a sign of filth—in fact, they are often found on children with very clean homes and hair.
Lice do not spread disease and are not considered a health hazard.
Avoid head-to-head contact during play, activities at home, school and elsewhere
Do not share hats, scarves, coats, sports uniforms, hair accessories, combs, brushes or towels. Disinfest combs and brushes used by an infested person by soaking them in hot water (at least 130°F) for 5–10 minutes.
Do not lie on beds, couches, pillows, carpets, or stuffed animals that have recently been in contact with a person who has lice.
Machine wash and dry clothing, bed linens, and other items worn or used during the 2 days before treatment using the hot water (130°F) laundry cycle and the high heat drying cycle. Seal items in a plastic bag and store for 2 weeks if they are not washable.
Vacuum the floor and furniture.

Use of School Property
🌳 After-Hours Use of School Property
We are proud to share our school grounds with our community after school hours and appreciate everyone helping us keep the space safe and welcoming for all. While portions of our campus are open for community use, gated areas—including the Pre-K playground, Adventure Play area, and garden—are off limits after hours.
Recently, we have seen children unsupervised in these restricted areas, jumping fences, moving or throwing equipment, and propping gates open. These actions create safety and security concerns and can result in damage to school property.
We ask that parents and community members help us by supervising children while on school property and respecting all gates, fences, and posted restrictions. Keeping these areas secure protects our students, preserves our shared spaces, and ensures our campus remains a safe place for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for helping us care for our school and our community! 🤠
Popcorn Fridays
Your Support Makes a Difference!
Our BHP fundraisers do more than raise money—they directly support our students, staff, and school! Funds raised help provide student experiences and resources, classroom and staff needs, and improvements to our school and campus.
Every dollar raised stays focused on making Blue Hole Primary an even better place to learn, grow, and thrive. Thank you for partnering with us and supporting our Buckaroos! 🐮❤️
Transportation Changes
All transportation changes need to go through the front office BEFORE 2:00. You can call our main number at 512-847-3407 or email BHPlogistics@wimberleyisd.net. Transportation changes recieved after 2:00 may not be honored. Please get them in early. When we have to pull a student off the bus to get in the car rider line, it holds up our entire dismissal process.
Please do not rely on the teacher for transportation changes. They are busy teaching and may not be able to check email.
