Week 1 2026
Hi Fabulous Families!
Per district policy, PISD students are not permitted to participate in outdoor activities during extreme temperatures. With a recess time of 1:30, 3rd grade students have been unable to go outside this week and have, instead, enjoyed indoor recess! We do our best to make this experience a fun time for the students to unwind but we understand that it is not favored by all. We appreciate your understanding and will continue wishing for cooler temperatures!
Please rememeber that we want to partner with you! If you ever need a question answered, concern addressed or even a victory celebrated; we are more than happy to assist!
P.S. Make sure to read all the way through the newsletter so that you can sneak a peek at our pictures of the week!
What we're learning!
Students will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the Baker's Dozen.
- participate in the reading, writing and math workshops.
- identify attributes of a good classroom and campus citizen.
- model science safety.
Important Information
- Some students prefer to use headphones when completing assignments on the computer. If this is your child, please feel free to send wired headphones with them to school. These will stay at school and will be sent home at the end of the year.
- We ask that all students leave toys, knick knacks and fun gadgets at home! When brought to school, these items can be a distraction and are at risk of getting broken, damaged or stolen. We appreciate your help in this matter!
- All classroom snacks should be NUT FREE! We want to protect students with allergies in the close proximity of the classroom. Students may have "nut items" in their lunches.
- All dimissal changes should be made by calling the front office! Teachers are not always able to check their email throughout the day and may miss this important info! Notifying the front office of changes is the BEST way to make sure your child gets home safely.
Take Home Folders
Each Friday, your child will bring home a green "Take Home Folder." This folder contains graded work and other helpful handouts that will differ on a week to week basis. This folder will come home each Friday and should be returned to school each Monday. We encourage you to make this folder your 3rd grader's responsibility. They can be in charge of removing it from their backpack and showing you the contents as well as making sure that it is back in their backpack on Monday mornings. This will help them build their independence and take ownership of their school responsibilities. We appreciate your help!
Polishing Our Skills
In 3rd grade, we place a large focus on student independence. To help with their independence at school, we encourage you to make sure that your child has mastered their ability to tie their shoes, zip their jacket, organize their materials, etc.! When students are able to use these seemingly silly skills throughout the day, our classrooms run more smoothly.
Smart watches and other personal technology
Prosper Independent School District Student Handbook/Code of Conduct:
In accordance with state law, the district prohibits the use of a personal communication device (such as cell phones, tablets, and smartwatches) while on school property during the school day. For more information about permitted use in certain circumstances and disciplinary measures that apply to this prohibition, see the Student Code of Conduct and policy FNCE(LOCAL). The use of cell phones or any device capable of capturing images is strictly prohibited in locker rooms or restroom areas while at school or at a school-related or school-sponsored event. If a student uses a personal communications device without authorization during the school day, the student will be disciplined in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
