Lighthouse Moment

One of my absolute favorite places in our school is our library. There is something so special about walking into this space and seeing students completely immersed in the joy of reading within such a warm, welcoming, and comfortable environment. When you enter the library, you may find students gathered together listening closely to a read aloud, excitedly exploring the shelves to discover new books, or curled up with a text they thoughtfully selected based on their own interests. Our library is filled with rich stories, meaningful conversations, curiosity, and a genuine love of reading. It is truly a special place for both students and staff to learn, connect, and grow together as readers.

Upcoming New Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for FY26/27 School Year

As we continue reflecting on our school procedures and routines, we are reviewing our arrival and dismissal processes with a focus on areas that tend to become congested during these busy times of day. We are also planning ahead for our shift to a full-day kindergarten program next school year, which will result in more students dismissing around the same time. Our goal is to create a smoother, safer, and more efficient experience for students, families, and staff.

In August, we will share updated arrival and dismissal procedures for next school year. Please be on the lookout for additional communication outlining these changes and important details for families.

We also recognize that no procedure is a magic wand, and there may still be moments of congestion as we safely dismiss more than 340 students at one time. We deeply appreciate your flexibility, partnership, and patience as we work together to make arrival and dismissal as smooth and safe as possible for everyone in our school community.

Summer Pet-sitting Opportunity at Adventures in Learning

ATTENTION all rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, reptiles, birds and other small animals! Winnetka's Adventures in Learning/Animal Care Class is back and looking for animals to get some love and attention from our teachers and students. If your child's small animal is due for a brief break this summer, please email Anna at animal.care.adventures@gmail.com. We can also attempt to arrange adoptions if it is time to pass your pet on to another loving family.
