On the First Day: Log into the school system between 8 and 8:30 to see your student's Class Connect (Events) Schedule. This varies by student, but those live classes are the priority to plan the day. You should see an orientation offered, along with other live classes and lessons to do.

Who can you ask for help? Your ADVISOR is your champion for questions and support as you begin OHVA. You can also visit HELP.K12.COM to search for HOW-TO info!

State Testing for 24-25

Mark your calendars for your student's STATE TESTING DATES! Your student must attend in person, so make sure to arrange for transportation.

Save Your Internet Bills for each Semester

Review the board policy and see how saving your internet bills can help you with internet costs, available at the end of each semester. Visit the OHVA ISP page here.

Dates to sumbit your internet bills at the end of each semester:

Club Sign Ups Open for All Grades!

Students may choose up to 3 clubs! Some clubs are "freebies" and don't count in the 3: Cardy Club K-5, SADD MS and HS, Young Men of Excellence 8th-HS.

OHVA Activities

Students should participate in 4 face to face activities during the school year. Active engagement in OHVA online clubs can count toward this expectation.

Just a heads up for you! We use Eventbrite for you to register for events and then check you in using Eventbrite, too. You should know your student's ID# when registering.

What's the K12 ZONE?

Here's some helpful info you need to know about it:

Students may participate in The Zone during specific times for their grade level.
Staff are present in sessions to help moderate.
Student interactions should follow the OHVA Student Code of Conduct found in the school handbook.

Know Your Student's ID # - Here's How

Look up your student's ID# and then SAVE IT to your phone or someplace handy. You need this for registering to attend events, club sign ups, and more.

Many Learning Coaches Recommend Instant Ink

Note that OHVA does not provide printer ink other than the small starter cartridge sent with the printer. Many LC's like the subscription service for Instant Ink. This is not an endorsement by the school, but is a tip shared by parent Boosters.

Advisors empower families to increase their involvement and assist in their student’s education, facilitate engagement in school activities and provide clear and consistent communication regarding school expectations and activities.

Advisors:

are your primary point of contact
facilitate live orientation sessions
help with non-instructional issues

hold weekly homeroom sessions for MS/HS students
monitor overall attendance
help students and learning coaches on individual catch up plans
guide students in developing effective home study skills and time management
help with re-registration

CLASS CONNECT

Class Connect is OHVA's online classroom where students gather for instruction with our teachers and staff. Even parents use Class Connect for online meetings and gatherings. In class your student may use tools to engage and learn:

videos

K12 provides McAfee Web Protection on K12 -provided computers. Parents are also able to block specific websites from within their browsers. Here is a tutorial on how to block websites from the browser: Click here
It is best to not block YouTube as many teachers use this for educational videos in classes.
Your password is Yours, and Yours Alone. As the adult Learning Coach, you need to be the one to enter attendance and have access to answer keys.

Title IX Notice

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. Section 1681 et seq. prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment as defined herein, in any program, service or activity, including but not limited to, educational programs, extracurricular activities, student services, academic counseling, discipline, classroom assignment, including admission to these programs and activities.
