Message from the Principal
Dear Chloe Clark Families,
Spring is just around the corner, and with it a buzz of excitement (and perhaps a few more lost jackets on the playground). As we approach mid-March, I would like to share a few important updates:
Spring Conferences: This year, spring conferences will be conducted on an as-needed basis. If your child's teacher believes that a conference would be beneficial, they will contact you to schedule one. Additionally, you are always welcome to reach out if you have any questions or wish to check in about your child's progress.
Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament: Ask your child about our school-wide Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament—it has been a blast seeing the kids cheer each other on and celebrating good sportsmanship. Who knew that such a simple hand game could spark so much joy and camaraderie?
Change Collection for the Steilacoom Food Pantry: We are also collecting spare change to support the Steilacoom Food Pantry. Every little bit helps make a big difference for families in our community, and it is a wonderful way to show kindness and generosity in action. If your child is rummaging through the couch cushions, now you know why!
Spring Break: Our well-deserved spring break is approaching — a time to rest, recharge, and hopefully enjoy a bit of sunshine. We hope you and your family have a wonderful and safe week off.
Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of our Chloe Clark community. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or simply to say hello.
Wishing you a bright and joyful beginning to spring!
Warmly,
Loretta Duncan

Highly Capable
A note from the Highly Capable Program teacher, Mrs. Hannah Engstrom
Every Spring there is a window of opportunity for 1st-4th grade students to apply for the district’s Highly Capable Program. Any family is welcome to apply. Students who qualify may have advanced academic skills, display an abundance of creativity, or are amazing thinkers. Application forms are found on the district’s website on this page: Highly Capable Program or you may request a paper copy from your child’s classroom teacher. Applications are due April 14, 2025. Evaluation and testing will be completed in late April. If you have any questions about the program feel free to contact me via Parent Square or email at hengstrom@steilacoom.k12.wa.us.

What if Everybody Did That?
Over the next two weeks, we will be focusing on respect and accountability.
For Kindergarten and 1st grade, we are using the book "What If Everybody Did That?" to teach our children about respect and accountability. The story illustrates how individual actions can impact themselves, others, and the environment. It encourages children to reflect on their choices and the importance of being respectful, responsible members of their community. This lesson helps children understand that their actions have consequences and that they must be accountable for them.
For the 2nd and 3rd grades, we are playing the Respect Game Show, which is modeled after Jeopardy. The students enjoyed our categories, which included Acting It Out, Sketch It, True or False, What If, and Risk. Please ask your child which categories their team selected and how they answered the prompts.
I encourage you to continue these conversations at home by talking about and modeling respect and accountability, as well as how individuals can show respect and take responsibility in their daily lives. Together, we can foster a culture of respect within our community!
Warmly,
Mrs. C
