Welcome To The New School Year!
August 12, 2024; Volume 27 - Issue 1
Dear Parents,
On behalf of our Pastor, faculty and staff, welcome to St. Francis de Sales for the 2024-2025 school year! The beginning of a new school year is always exciting, offering new possibilities and opportunities. We are extremely blessed to be working with such an exceptional group of students and families this year!
We would especially like to extend a warm welcome to our new families. We are delighted that you have chosen a Catholic education for your children and are very pleased that you have selected St. Francis de Sales. Our hope is that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the many aspects of our parish school community.
Looking forward to the year ahead, I am honored to be serving as Principal of this wonderful school. I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our newest faculty members. Please join me in welcoming three new teachers to our St. Francis de Sales family. Ms. Laura Brown will be joining Mrs. Wilske and team-teaching in Kindergarten this year. Ms. Brown is a graduate of Ashford University; her most recent teaching experience has been serving as Kindergarten teacher at St. Anne Catholic School for the last five years. Mrs. Kimberly Mattler will be our 6th Grade Homeroom teacher, providing instruction in Middle School Religion and Social Studies. Mrs. Mattler is a graduate of San Diego State University, with 15 years of teaching experience in Catholic and private school settings. Our new Third Grade teacher is Mrs. Giovanna Hernandez. Mrs. Hernandez is well known to many of our students having served our school last year as our First Grade teaching assistant. Mrs. Hernandez is a recent graduate of Nevada State College, she is looking forward to this opportunity with a passion and enthusiasm for teaching, collaboration, and service. We are eager for you to meet our newest faculty members; their contributions and service will continue to advance our programs, emphasizing Catholic identity, and academic excellence.
We have lots of exciting news to share for this new school year. For additional information, please take a moment to read more in my letter (linked here). Again, thank you for your commitment to Catholic education and entrusting your children to us during these most important years. I look forward to working with you on behalf of our students and wish you every grace and blessing for a wonderful new school year!
Respectfully,
Carol Wilson
Principal, St. Francis de Sales

SCRIP PROGRAM: Updates and Reminders
Welcome back to the new school year and thank you for your participation and support of our Scrip Program! In addition to our monthly reports, please see our annual report (linked here) summarizing our Scrip fundraising for the 2023-2024 school year.
A General Observation: The more we use Scrip, the more profits there will be to cover the miscellaneous out-of-budget improvements and costs for our school. Other than some advanced planning, there are no costs to our families. The Scrip Program is a great way to raise additional funds for the school, without excessive tuition increases, or having to ask all of us to get involved in one labor intensive fund-raiser after another.
Returning Families: At this time we are reminding each of our returning school families to update your Scrip profiles in order to reflect your child(ren)'s current grade level(s). This will ensure that the proper credit is received for your child(ren)'s classroom(s).
Updating the correct grade level is very easy:
1. Sign in to shopwithscrip.com
2. Click on the Dashboard tab
3. Scroll down to the Change Profile/Password Link
4. This is where you will be able to update and enter the new Classroom/Group of each child
If you have any questions or require assistance, please let us know! Please remember, to purchase SCRIP through shopwithscrip.com. Thank you for your support of our school!

We are beginning this new school year with a wonderful and renewed sense of spirit and energy! Working together and building our school community of faith, we will continue to develop the framework for moral reasoning and ethical decision-making. This commitment is integral to the mission of all Catholic schools. By integrating into our teachings the relationship between belief and behavior - between faith and morals - we can show our students how to live their faith. One way we achieve this goal is through our Life Skills program. Each week, we will focus on a different skill, and through practice, we can create opportunities that help build character. We will start the year off with a focus on Tolerance.
The Life Skill of The Week is...
“Tolerance: To recognize and respect the opinions, practices, or behavior of others.” To be tolerant means that you accept other people's opinions and preferences, even when they live in a way that you don't agree with. Tolerance also means that you don't put your opinions above those of others, even when you are sure that you are right.
