October #5

I hope everyone is enjoying this incredible weather! There is a lot happening around HCA, so be sure to check out the updates and announcements below.

First, mark your calendars for Grandparents Day on November 6! We are excited to welcome our HCA grandparents to campus for a special morning together, including a catered breakfast at 7:30 a.m. We can’t wait to celebrate them!

Be sure to read the latest newsletter from Mrs. Ross for updates from our elementary school.

Also, don’t miss Senior Night this Friday as we celebrate our Varsity football players. Come out and help us honor our seniors and cheer on our Warriors!

Finally, a special invitation to our dads and granddads: Warrior Dads meets tomorrow morning at 6:30 a.m. in the Warrior Room. We’ll enjoy breakfast, fellowship, and some great teaching together. I hope you can join us!

Thanks for being part of the HCA Family. Have a great week!

The Warrior Family Alliance (WFA) is a parent volunteer group that helps support the school in various ways: lunchroom helpers, school events, providing treats/meals for staff, fundraising, etc. If you have a heart for service, and are looking for ways to help support the school, we would love to connect with you! This monthly newsletter will contain all of the ways you can help volunteer throughout the year. We have opportunities big and small available, and are looking forward to another amazing year supporting our kids, teachers, and school.

If you have any questions, or would like to connect with us, please email us at thewarriorfamilyalliance@gmail.com - we look forward to hearing from you!

Do you want to support the school, but don't have time to serve? Participation in our monthly Talk Around the Table fundraiser or attending one of our events is a great way to help! The WFA raises money through these programs/events, and then we use that money to stock the teacher workroom with snacks, host fun dances for the students, put on events like Fall Festival or Mother/Son Nerf Wars among many others. Your participation in our fundraisers is the way we are able to provide these fun extras for our kids, teachers, and staff, and we are so appreciative of your support!

"The Place” needs our help. They are a non-profit that feeds local families in our area. There has been such a great demand for their help lately that their shelves are now empty. As you know, an HCA Warrior shows up. So we immediately volunteered to do our best to fill their shelves over the next couple of days.

We had a great start today with donations, but we can do more! Tomorrow morning we will be collecting all the canned food item possible so we can deliver it to the Place Friday at noon. Please take this great opportunity to show your family that we as Christians, and specifically at Horizon Christian, are there for our community when they need us. Raid the pantry, swing by the grocery store, order a pickup order from your favorite store, or swing by Costco and let’s bless “above and beyond” our neighbors. Invite your kids to participate and understand what and why we are doing it.

As a thank you, your student will receive a casual day pass good for this Monday November 2nd when they drop off their donation.

Middle & High School Students may wear Black Spirit Wear to school on Friday.

The HCA Spiritual Life Podcast helps parents stay connected to the spiritual formation of their students throughout the school year. Each episode highlights what their student is learning in Bible class, reflects on key themes from chapel, and features student voices as they process faith, life, and relationships. The podcast also offers practical guidance to help parents understand this developmental stage and support their students with wisdom, encouragement, and meaningful conversation at home.
