Costume FYI as you may start preparing for the Holiday:
All students are welcome to wear or bring their costume on Friday, October 30th.
We plan to do a school wide parade either through the hallways or outside (weather pending) to showcase our holiday spirit towards the end of the school day.
There are two options when thinking about your student and their costume on 10/30.
1. Your student can wear their costume to school. This option would mean they are able to use the restroom on their own, without any zipper or assistance, when needing to go. They are still able to learn and complete work as needed in their costume.
2. Your student can bring their costume. If your student brings their costume, there will be time dedicated before the school parade for them to change into. This option would only be doable if your student is able to dress themselves into their own costume independently.
General MVR3 Guidelines to be aware of and follow:
-No weapon or toys/accessories
-No face paint or masks
-No scary or gory like costumes

Hero Quest at the Magic House
Free to Coleman Families!!!
Explore Hero Quest at The Magic House and discover what it means to be a hero! Inspired by author Brad Meltzer and illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos’ “Ordinary People Change the World” book series, this Museum-wide scavenger hunt invites families to meet real-life heroes, explore interactive activities, and uncover traits – like courage, kindness, and curiosity – that they can use to change the world, too. Visit our Heroes at Home gallery in the section below, developed by Character Plus, for more ideas to foster character development within your child and to promote exciting opportunities for them to be a hero within their community. Explore the gallery to see great examples of how you can start having meaningful conversations with your family, whether it’s during family dinners, car rides or even before bedtime.

Title Programs: Parent Information
The Meramec Valley R-III School District receives Title I, Title II, and Title IV federal funding. The purpose of Title programs is to provide all children a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education and to close educational achievement gaps. This critical funding supports our Title Reading teachers, STEAM clubs, Student Learning Nights, and class size reduction teachers. Please use this link if you would like more information on our Title Programs, Parent's Right to Know details, and Title complaint procedures.
Watch Dog's Program
The district is also expanding the Watch D.O.G.S. (dads/guardians of great students) safety program at each K-8 building in the district. If you are interested learning more about this program or volunteering even 1 day a year as a Watch D.O.G.S. in your child’s school.
Watch D.O.G.S. is a national innovative program focusing on the prevention of violence in our children's schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for two purposes:
1) To provide positive male/adult role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2) To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. WATCH D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and any other father-figures who volunteer as a positive presence for at least one whole school day each year at an official WATCH D.O.G.S. school.
Please contact the Coleman office if you are interested in serving as a WATCH D.O.G.S. at Coleman Elementary.
