MCB World Cup Tournament

Today at the MCB Complex, 3rd and 4th graders from all schools competed in the first "MCB World Cup" soccer tournament! Kids from all four schools showed some pretty impressive soccer skills. Even more importantly, both the players and our fans showed excellent sportsmanship!

The pink team from the Hooks scored some late goals in the final that really showed their perseverance and teamwork, but the Kelly School "Team Excellence" triumphed in the end and took home the championship trophy! Congratulations, Kelly School!

Outdoor Learning Experience

Last Wednesday and Friday, our 2nd grade students traveled to Horn Pond Dam for an exciting outdoor learning experience connected to their science studies. Students hiked through forest and pond habitats to identify decomposers and other living and nonliving things, observed macroinvertebrates that live in the pond ecosystem, and learned about herring fish migration while helping to count local fish populations. The trip provided a valuable opportunity for hands-on scientific exploration and a deeper understanding of local ecosystems.

This experience was organized through the collaborative efforts of Ms. Matthews, the 2nd grade teachers, and Alice, the Education Experiences Coordinator at the Mystic River Watershed Association, whose partnership helped make this meaningful learning opportunity possible for our students.

319 got to be part of AP science week. They enjoyed working with older students from CHS and learned so much about chemistry! They learned the chemical reactions when making slime and how to change the consistency of the slime using different ingredients. 319 fourth graders also got to learn about the future careers in the science field of the CHS students. Overall such a cool experience.

Our balloon board countdown kicks off at the Hooks School as we get ready to welcome the World Cup of Soccer and the Last Day of School! Each day until the last day of school, a classroom is selected at random to send a student to the Main Office to pop a balloon and read the message inside the balloon to the whole school via the intercom. The message is either a challenge, an inspirational quote or a spirit day. The kids always have a great time!
