BERKOWITZ SCHOOL UPDATES
Outdoor Learning Experience
Last Wednesday and Friday, our 2nd grade students traveled to Horn Pond Dam for an exciting outdoor learning experience connected to their science studies. Students hiked through forest and pond habitats to identify decomposers and other living and nonliving things, observed macroinvertebrates that live in the pond ecosystem, and learned about herring fish migration while helping to count local fish populations. The trip provided a valuable opportunity for hands-on scientific exploration and a deeper understanding of local ecosystems.
This experience was organized through the collaborative efforts of Ms. Matthews, the 2nd grade teachers, and Alice, the Education Experiences Coordinator at the Mystic River Watershed Association, whose partnership helped make this meaningful learning opportunity possible for our students.
