Principal's Message
Greetings, Berkmar Middle School Families,
It was a fantastic week at school! Our students had a blast during Club Day on Monday, diving into team-building activities and making great connections with their peers.
A special thank you to all the families who joined us for our Title I Annual Parent Meeting. We truly appreciate your time and partnership as we shared insights about our Title I program and ways to support learning at home.
Progress reports went home today. Please take a moment to review your child’s grades together and ask them these three quick questions:
What is one thing you’re proud of accomplishing so far?
Which topic or activity has been your favorite to learn about?
What is one goal you have for the rest of the semester, and how can I help?
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to Berkmar Middle School. Together, we are building a bright, successful school year for every student!
Warm Regards,
Felecia C. Jones
Principal

A Daily Approach to Math
Mastering math takes hard work and practice. Math builds on itself, so have your teen make time each day to work on math and stay current in the class. Encourage your student to write down and solve sample problems from the book or from class. Students should also analyze problems before trying to solve them (it may help to draw a diagram). Then, remind your teen to check work carefully before turning a completed assignment in.
Make sure you have downloaded the Parent Vue App and Parent Square App on your cell phone. If you need assistance in doing so, make plans to visit to the BMS Family Center and ask for Ms. Silva

BMS Connects: PBIS, SEL, and Advisement
To help students effectively resist negative peer pressure, equip them with practical refusal skills they can use in real time. Teach them to look at the person directly in the eye and deliver a clear "no" or offer an alternative activity using a calm, assertive tone. Remind them that deflecting with humor is a great way to ease tension, and that simply walking away is always a safe, valid option when a situation feels uncomfortable.
We reward students for following the expectations with Berkmar Bucks and we like to offer them monthly opportunities to redeem their Berkmar Bucks for prizes. Our next store will be September 30 from 11:00 to 1:35. If you would like to donate prizes for our store or volunteer to help students redeem their prizes, please contact Mrs. Silva.
