Kindergarten students were delivering homemade applesauce from the apples they picked while on a fieldtrip last week.

Good afternoon, PQ Families,

I hope you and your families had a wonderful 3-day weekend and had some time to enjoy the fall weather, as well as some time with family.

The Croton Falls Fire Department will be here on Thursday, October 15th for Fire Prevention Week. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to stay safe in case of a fire, as well as learn about the equipment that firemen come with to a call. Please do not be alarmed if you see fire trucks at PQ this day. They are all part of the learning experience!

We have a virtual Enrichment informational night on Thursday evening. Join Michelle Sands, PQ’s Enrichment Specialist, on Thursday, October 15th from 6:00–6:45 p.m. via Google Meet for a presentation regarding PQ's enrichment program.

This session will provide information regarding program philosophy, opportunities, and identification. The session will conclude with an opportunity for questions.

Harvest Fair is this Saturday, 12 - 3 PM. The PTO has been hard at work preparing a wonderful day of family fun for us all. Please show support for our PQ PTO and come take part in all of the incredible family-friendly activities.

LOOKING AHEAD - Just a reminder - Next Monday, October 26th is a half-day for students for Teacher Professional Development Day. PQ students will dismiss at 12:00.

Wednesday October 21st Mrs. Ahearn will host her 2nd MTSS virtual presentation on understanding STAR and DIBELS Scores. Please see the flyer below.

MS/HS Parking lot

We are continuing to conduct emergency evacuation drills at PQ. These drills are an important part of helping students and staff understand how to respond calmly and safely in the event of an emergency.

Edith in 1st Grade and Lucy in 5th Grade were recognized for helping a Kindergarten bus student. Both girls realized the student was uncertain about their bus ride and made sure that student got on the correct bus and even rode with that student all the way home to ensure they felt safe!

Third grader, Kenneth, was sitting in a special seat and realized a classmate really wanted to sit in that seat. So Kenneth willingly gave up the special seat to his peer and set that peer up for a pleasant day!

You can find SRO Erika Holze everywhere around PQ! When she's not outside running around with the students during recess, she's in the classroom reading to students (all while keeping us safe)! Officer Holze also brought back a PQ favorite this year, Junior Officers! Our Junior Officers have patrolled the school to ensure everything is in tip-top shape, checked the cameras, and explored the police vehicle to see what Officer Holze brings to school with her everyday!

October 15th - Croton Falls Fire Department Visit

Back-to-school season brings students together, but the close contact in classrooms also accelerates the spread of seasonal germs. To ensure a healthy learning environment, the school nurse's office is open during all operational hours to assess students who feel unwell. Parents are strongly urged to keep children home if they exhibit symptoms of contagious illnesses to give them time to recover and to protect classmates.
