First Grade Newsletter- Week 8
October 9th
First Grade Families,
It’s been an action-packed week of learning in first grade! Our classes worked hard uncovering the main idea and supporting details in their reading. We also took a thrilling deep dive into digraphs, and our students are absolutely rocking it! They’ve mastered /ch/, /ck/, /sh/, /wh/, /ph/, and /th/.
In math, the classes have been working so hard exploring addition and subtraction within 10. Next week, they’ll have the opportunity to show all they’ve learned on the End-of-Chapter 2 Test. We are so proud of all their hard work and growth.

Math Focus for Next Week
We will continue our study of chapter 2: Addition and Subtraction within 10! Next week we will work on fact fluency skills including DOUBLES FACTS! We will wrap up chapter 2 on Friday with a simple test over addition and subtraction to 10!

We will focus on finding the main idea of a book!
Students will also work in small groups to decode, read, and comprehend books!
