School Nurse Hall

While seasonal influenza (flu) viruses are detected year-round in the United States, flu viruses are most common during the fall and winter. The exact timing and duration of flu seasons can vary, but influenza activity often begins to increase in October. Most of the time flu activity peaks between December and February, although activity can last as late as May.

The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get the flu vaccine. It can reduce flu illnesses, doctors' visits, and missed work and school, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations.

Good health habits, like covering your cough and washing your hands often can help stop the spread of germs and prevent respiratory illnesses like the flu.

Please let the school nurse know if your child is absent due to the flu. If possible, please send in confirmation of results. Fax # 512-268-1853.School
