Plympton Family Update
October 3, 2025
From the Plympton Admin Team
Hello, Families!
We have some exciting news to share! Plympton was named a School of Recognition by DESE for their 2025 MCAS performance!
"As part of its annual accountability reporting process, the Department identifies a small number of Schools of Recognition. These schools demonstrate progress toward annual accountability targets, with an emphasis on improved achievement in ELA and math."
I am so proud of the students and staff for their hard work!
Next Thursday night, October 9, is out annual Back to School Open House.
The event will take place on from 6:00–7:30 PM, and you are invited to drop in anytime during that window.
This evening is designed to be a family event, with students taking the lead! Your child will:
-
Show you their classroom and share some of the work they’ve been doing.
-
Introduce you to their teacher.
-
Guide you as you explore our specialist classrooms (art, music, gym, drama, and science) and visit the library.
Caregivers are, of course, welcome to attend on their own, but we truly love to see families experiencing this evening together. We hope you’ll enjoy seeing the school through your child’s eyes!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Save the Date:
October 8th: Walk to School Day! See the info below in the PTO section!
October 9th: Picture Day!
Have a great weekend!

From the School Nurse
Fall is here and with it the return of allergies, illnesses and common childhood diseases.
Colds - keep your child home if they have a fever (100.0F) or symptoms that will keep them from fully participating in the school day. Your child should be fever free without taking any fever reducing medications, like Tylenol or Motrin, for 24 hours.
Allergies - continue giving daily antihistamines to help with post nasal drip. Start their inhaler right away if they develop a cold or cough.
Vomiting/GI upset - keep your child home until they are vomit free for 12-24 hours.
Lice - check your child for nits much like you check for ticks. Remind your child to avoid sitting close head to head with others and avoid sharing hats and hair accessories. All suspected or confirmed cases should be reported to me.
Most importantly, children should be reminded to wash their hands with soap and water especially after touching their eyes, nose or mouth. Children should cover their mouth when
coughing or sneezing.
All WPS Nurse Consent Forms should be signed and returned to me by the end of the month. If your child’s is missing they will not be allowed to attend any scheduled Field Trips.
Contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Stay well,
Ms. Duquette
