MESSAGE TO AAM COMMUNITY
June 8, 2026
Dear Altadena Arts Magnet Community,
As we shared in our recent communication, the indoor environmental testing confirmed that the AAM campus is safe and ready for our students and staff to return. We are proud that our District holds itself to an even higher standard of testing than what California requires, because our students, staff and community deserve nothing less.
This summer, the AAM campus is receiving a full, top-to-bottom preparation ahead of the first day of school. A qualified environmental remediation contractor will perform targeted cleaning in select areas using professional-grade methods, including HEPA vacuuming, mopping, damp wiping, and comprehensive surface cleaning. The District will also inspect the HVAC system, replace HEPA filters in all classroom air purifiers, and ensure every classroom and instructional space is ready for a fresh start.
There is even more to look forward to. We are replacing all carpet throughout the entire campus with new LVT (luxury vinyl tile) flooring, a cleaner, more durable surface for every classroom and common space, and we are investing in a brand new playground area for our students, which will be completed later this year.

We recognize that while the Altadena Arts Magnet campus was untouched by the flames, it sits in the heart of a community that was surrounded by the fire. The damage done was real, and we do not take this lightly. The Altadena Arts Magnet community has shown extraordinary resilience this year, and your campus is ready to reflect that strength. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back to school in August!
Thank you for your continued engagement and support.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Blanco, Ed.D.
