Back to School Night
Thank you to all of our families that came out to Back to School Night! We appreciate the opportunity to meet many of you or to see y'all again. Special thank you to our Altamont Creek staff members who worked hard to prepare an informative night for all of our families.
Food on Campus Update
•Food for Celebrations and Rewards During School~ The State of California has renewed and reinforced the following Ed Code nutritional guidelines for schools. They will be auditing schools throughout the year.
This applies to foods and beverages donated, offered, or provided to students on campus upon arrival, during the school day, or upon dismissal for rewards or celebrations. Our district encourages the use of non-food/beverage items for rewards and celebrations. If food/beverage items are provided, they must adhere to the following guidelines.
- Food or beverage items donated, offered or provided to a school, classroom or individual(s) must be commercially packaged.
- A list of ingredients must either be printed on each individual item or on the larger package they came in, which must accompany the items.
- No homemade items.
- Items cannot have added caffeine.
- Items cannot contain nuts, as we are a nut-free district.
- Items align with our district’s healthy snack standards and recommendations.
Elementary
In addition to those stated above, food/snacks brought onto our elementary campuses must follow these guidelines:
- Snacks served do not exceed 200 calories per packaged item.
- Schools shall limit celebrations that involve food during the school day to no more than one celebration per class per month.
- Hosting celebrations after lunch is encouraged.
Here at ACE...
Due to many children with food allergies, and to promote healthier eating and overall wellness, families may send in non-food treats to celebrate a birthday at school. Suggestions might be fun pencils, erasers, small trinkets, or stickers. Birthday goodie bags, without food, can be distributed to all classmates at the end of the school day. Having flowers and balloons delivered to the school is disruptive to the learning environment, so please plan for those items to be delivered at home. We value our instructional time; therefore teachers will not be hosting birthday parties in their classrooms. One unique way you can celebrate your child’s birthday at school is by having their name with a Happy Birthday greeting posted on the marquee on your child’s special day. We ask for a donation of $20 and the proceeds from marquee messages will support ACE students and programs. Another option would be to purchase a celebration book for our library in recognition of your child’s birthday. A sticker will be placed in the front of the book to honor your child’s birthday.

Volunteer Opportunities
Are you interested in volunteering on campus? Volunteering is a powerful way for families to connect with their community, teach valuable life lessons to children, and make a meaningful impact. By giving your time and talents, you not only help those in need but also strengthen family bonds and instill a sense of compassion and responsibility in your children. Volunteering together fosters a spirit of kindness and teamwork that will benefit your family and the community for years to come.
If you are interested in serving on our PBIS committee, please reach out to Andrea Tapia at atapia@lvjusd.org
We are also looking for parents/families interested in sharing their talent during after school clubs. If you have a talent you would like to share with our Wildcat community, please
