I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and finding time to enjoy the company of family and friends in the coming months. The work never stops here at Temple Athletics as our staff, coaches and student-athletes are preparing for the 2023-24 seasons.

After a national search to find our next women’s gymnastics coach, I am excited to announce that Hilary Steele, Temple’s top assistant coach, will lead our program moving forward. I am truly excited that Hilary, her husband, Matt and their daughter Gracen will remain a part of the Temple Family.

Under the leadership of Sr. Associate AD for External Operations Scott Walcoff, our Temple Athletics Marketing Department won two First Place Awards in the categories of Year Over Year Revenue Increase (Women's Basketball) and Community Engagement and finished in second place for the Athletics Marketing Team of the Year Award. These awards were presented at the NACMA Convention in Orlando on June 12.

I am excited to announce that Temple Athletics has renewed its partnership with Nike, continuing a relationship that began in 2020. Under the agreement, Nike will continue to serve as the official athletic footwear, apparel, and equipment provider for all 19 of Temple's intercollegiate sports programs.

Academic Awards are still coming in and our Temple Owls are well represented. Six of our student-athletes, representing five teams, were honored with PhillySIDA Academic All-Area selections. Kenneth Raynor (men’s crew) and Jamie Wei (women’s tennis) earned Academic All-Area Performer of the Year accolades while Laura Nicholson (women’s track), Trent Tighelaar (men’s crew), Thibault Frumholz (men’s tennis) and Belle Mastropietro (women’s lacrosse) were named to their respective Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area teams.

This summer’s Temple Takeover Tour sponsored by David Auto was a huge success. It was great seeing everyone at our four stops (June 5- Chickie’s and Pete’s in South Philadelphia; June 6 - MaGerk’s in Fort Washington; June 7- The Green Parrot in Newtown; and June 8 - Chickie’s and Pete’s location in Marlton). We look forward to continuing this momentum into the 2023-24 seasons.
