Bellerive Bulletin
January 18, 2026
Dear Bellerive Families:
Our focus this month is Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. This habit is about listening before speaking. Leaders slow down, listen carefully, and try to understand another person’s point of view before sharing their own.
At Bellerive, students are practicing Habit 5 by:
Using active listening during partner and group discussions.
Asking questions before jumping in with their own ideas.
Showing respect for different opinions and perspectives.
Families can support this habit at home by modeling patient listening—making eye contact, putting down distractions, and repeating back what was heard before responding. When students practice this habit, they build empathy and strengthen their communication with others.
On our upcoming half-day, your child will bring home a Habits at Home activity focused on Habit 5. This will give families an opportunity to practice and reflect on active listening together at home. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the 7 Habits and helping our students grow as leaders who are thoughtful listeners, empathetic leaders, and strong communicators.
In Partnership,
Joey Kneer

Equations Team Update
The Equations Team has its first field trip to a competition on Thursday, February 26.
- Please sign the permission slip on Infinite Campus for the field trip.
- This field trip leaves before school during the regular time the club meets.
For the competition, teams are encouraged to come up with creative team names and costumes. Bellerive's Equations Team will be brainstorming team names and making t-shirts for the competition on Thursday, January 29 during its club time. This will allow for all of the students on the Equations Team to have a voice in developing names and creating shirts.

- We are also looking for any fabric markers or materials that can be used on shirts for decorations. This is a creative group of kids, and we want their innovative ideas to shine!
