Dear Eaton Families,

Tonight is PTA Spirit Night at Planet Smoothie on Military Cutoff from 3:00- 7:00. We hope you are able to support our amazing PTA, who do so many wonderful things for our students and staff.

Congratulations to our 5th grade students who participated in the All-County Chorus Concert last Saturday, February 18th. We are so proud of their hard work! Thank you to our awesome music teacher, Mrs. Bland, for her guidance and dedication to her students.

Thank you to all of our families who joined us for STREAM Night on Thursday! Our teachers and staff members worked hard to organize fun and enriching activities for our families. We appreciate your participation. It was fun seeing all of our Olympians and their families!

Please Save the Date for Book Fair/Bingo Night on March 7th. More information to come.

Our PTA will host a Spirit Night with Moe's Southwest Grill on Wednesday, March 8th. Please use this link to purchase taco kits. They will be delivered to the school and can be picked up from 5:00-5:30.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please see the information in the volunteer section in this newsletter. Field Day times are listed below. Parents may come as visitors/spectators, but may not run a station unless they are a volunteer. All visitors and volunteers must sign in and out in the office, so you may want to arrive early.

  • 11:30 -1:30 3rd-5th

Lunch Visitors

The small tables by the windows in the cafeteria will be designated for lunch visitors. If you are coming to school to eat with your child we kindly ask that you find a table away from classes. Students are not allowed to bring friends with them to the lunch visitor table.

Eaton School Wide Book Club

We hope that our Eaton families have been enjoying our The World According to Humphrey book club. Now it's time for this year's family project and we are keeping it simple! What is an "unplugged" activity that your family enjoys doing together? Sports? Board games? Family STREAM Night? Take a picture of your family doing an unplugged activity and send it to Ms. Mitchell (meredith.mitchell@nhcs.net). We will compile them all to display and show on ENC.

Cafeteria Balances:

Our cafeteria manager is sending out notices for unpaid balances. Please know that we understand that it might not be possible for you to pay your complete balance all at once. You may make payments. Students will not be denied meals at school.

Below is the link to apply for free and reduced meals. Please know that if you are approved, charges accrued prior to approval remain.

Eaton Families are Special!

We would like to highlight our Eaton families, and their unique family traditions. Families will be featured on our weekly Eaton News Channel (ENC), and on Facebook. If your family is interested, please submit a 3-5 minute video highlighting your family. Videos can be shared with our school counselor, Mrs. Matney, anne.matney@nhcs.net

Volunteer Information

All volunteers must complete the training orientation, complete and turn in a volunteer application form, and take the volunteer assessment with 80% or higher each school year.

Volunteer application forms are linked below, and are also available in the front office.

All field trip chaperones must become a Level II volunteer, which requires a background check through NHCS. Background checks are good for three years. You can log into your account to check your expiration date, or contact Mrs. Allen. The NHCS background check system is linked below. Level 2 volunteers must also complete the orientation and assessment each year.

All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Level I

Parents, family, or community members volunteering to assist students in a supervised setting are not required to undergo a background check if they are continually supervised by school personnel during the school day.

Level II

Parents, family, or community members volunteering to assist students in an unsupervised setting away from school personnel are deemed Level II Volunteers. We also ask that all chaperones become Level II volunteers, as well as those interested in assisting in our media center and cafeteria at Eaton Elementary. An applicant designated a Level II Volunteer must complete the online application and the criminal background check. Applications must be completed at least two weeks prior to the time you wish to begin volunteering. The cost of background checks are $20.

Steps to Take to Become A Volunteer:

  • Review the Volunteer Orientation Presentation

  • Review the Volunteer Handbook
