What if I didn't receive the device I requested?
Everyone who filled out the Spring 2022 survey will receive the device they requested. People who did not fill out the survey or who were hired after the survey closed will be receiving Dell devices due to a shortage of Mac inventory.
If you believe you should have received a different device, please contact ITS immediately. We will install the equipment you are currently assigned and come back to install a different device if we find there has been an error.
What if my device is less than two years old?
If you have a device that is less than two years old, you can choose to keep that device OR receive a new device.
What will happen to my old equipment?
Your old equipment will be collected, inventoried and e-wasted.
What if my device was purchased through categorical funds?
If your device was purchased through categorical funding like Title 1, you will need to note that on the device. We suggest using masking tape and writing on the tape your school site and what categorical fund it was purchased out of. We will then inventory these devices and give the inventory list to Procurement for reconciliation and audit.
What needs to happen before the techs show up at my site?
- Clear your desk or a table near your data port (the data port looks like a phone plug but the plug is orange). You will need approximately 3.5 feet x 2 feet of space on a desk or table for the equipment.
- Have all devices that are two years or older ready to be picked up, along with chargers. This includes your Lenovo, Chromebook, and desktop computer.
- If you are turning in a device that was purchased out of categorical funds, please mark those devices clearly using tape or a sticky note so they can be added to the inventory list that will be given to Procurement for auditing.
- Back up your device(s)
How long will it take for the techs to set up my laptop, docking station, and monitor?
While the tech is setting up your station, you will need to enter in your username and password a few times. They will be in your classroom/office setting up for anywhere from 15 - 60 minutes.
What if I have my own personal monitor or computer in my classroom?
All personal devices (computers, monitors, etc.) must be removed from the classroom to ensure they don't get picked up with older District owned devices.
What if I'm out sick or offsite on my scheduled deployment day?
We will not be able to deploy your device if you are not available, as we need you to sign in to the device for the initial configuration. You will need to create a Help Desk ticket and someone will come out to check out your device to you and set up your station when you are there.
