Executive Headteacher's Message
It has been another busy and productive term at Cardinal Pole Catholic School, filled with fantastic achievements and growing anticipation as we approach the exam period.
A heartfelt thank you to our parents and carers for your continued support and partnership in ensuring our students thrive. A special thanks to our dedicated staff, particularly those working closely with Year 11 and Year 13, for their unwavering commitment in guiding students through their exam preparations.
We have also welcomed nearly 20 primary schools on different occasions to experience a taster of secondary school life through our workshops. These sessions have seen pupils earn Bunsen burner licences, become data detectives, and professionals in the kitchen, among many other activities. If you'd like your school to be involved in our future primary projects, please get in touch with Clodagh Benning, who can arrange it.
Well done to all our students who are working diligently towards their exams, demonstrating aspiration, professionalism, and a commitment to achieving their personal best.
This term, we were treated to a truly phenomenal production of Matilda, and we extend our gratitude to the Drama and Music Departments for their dedication in bringing the show to life. As Matilda reminds us, "Even if you're little, you can do a lot!"
With Mother’s Day having just passed, we take this moment to express our gratitude for the powerful and positive maternal figures in our lives—those who nurture, support, and encourage us to flourish.
As we approach Easter, I wish you all a restful and blessed break. May this time be filled with joy, reflection, and precious moments with family and loved ones.
Yours in service,
Adam Hall
Executive Headteacher
News and Highlights
Staff and students had a fantastic day celebrating Pi Day! We had the largest turnout ever for our annual Pi competition, and all the maths teachers wore their brightest Pi shirts for the occasion.
We have another school record from Siarra (Year 10), who recalled a whopping 310 digits. Fantastic work also to Emily (Year 10), who recalled 273 digits, and closely following behind with 271 digits on his first-ever attempt was Ismail (Year 7)
Our Year 7 class set up a tank for some tiny tadpoles, and now we’ll be able to observe them transform into fully grown frogs. Once they’ve completed their metamorphosis, our Year 12 biologists will release them into the wild!" ~ Ms Filice
Matilda cast putting in the work! Rehearsals are in full swing, with lots of energy, dedication, and fun. We can't wait to see it all come together on stage!
It was a fantastic day for all, providing students with valuable first-hand experiences to enhance their coursework. There were even a few thrills and scares during the London Dungeon tour!
Last week, we had a visit from poet Christian Foley to raise awareness for Neurodiversity Week and celebrate the unique strengths of every individual. The students wrote their own poems, gaining tips and tricks from Christian!
Catholic Life
Our prayerful reflections have continued, with Years 7 and 8 conducting an examination of conscience in preparation for reconciliation. Meanwhile, our Year 9 and 10 students have been led through the Stations of the Cross; a powerful prayer that reminds us of Jesus’ last journey and the comparisons we can make to our own lives today.
In our gatherings for collective worship, we have been reminded to be charitable in word and deed, to emulate St. Joseph, and to consider the true meaning of repentance. It is fair to say that we have been working hard to ensure that this Lent we have made more room for God in all aspects of our lives in school.
Outside of school hours, 30 students from Years 10 and 12 attended the national Flame Congress held at Wembley Arena, alongside 10,000 other young people from around the country. Not only did we have the opportunity to worship and pray with so many other young people and priests, but we were also treated to presentations from Bear Grylls, Isaac Hervey MBE, and led in praise and worship by Adenike Adewale and OneHopeProject. It was an incredible day that left us filled with the Holy Spirit and feeling UNSTOPPABLE for the future of our faith. Check out all future plans for more Flame experiences by following CYMFed Flame Congress on all major social networking channels.
As we enter the final weeks of Lent, we look deep into our hearts and pray for support, guidance, and comfort. May our homes become places where God dwells, and may we be made ready to welcome the risen Lord.
Student Corner - Hasanatu Year 10
Hasanatu from Year 10 has been cast as Mr Wormwood in the upcoming school production of
Matilda. Below, she tells us about how much she has enjoyed preparing for and playing the role! She writes this in the final week of rehearsals with show time fast approaching!
"Before we got our parts, each of us had to act out a certain scene for our audition and the drama
teachers then decided which role was most suitable for us. Since being cast, we have been rehearsing every Wednesday evening, but as the dates get closer, we have been working very hard after school each day until 5 pm!
When I am on stage, it makes me feel like a different person and I can enjoy myself more whilst
acting a character especially if their personality is completely different from mine.
For the performances, I am a little nervous about the audience because sometimes, I can be a little
shy, but I also think it’s going to be a whole lot of fun.
If there were future productions, I would encourage people to join in because you only live once and
it’s such a fun experience to have. There aren’t that many opportunities to be together with so many
students from all year groups so it’s really been so much fun!"

Message from the Assistant Headteacher
April welcomes us with the promise of renewal as we celebrate Easter, a cornerstone of our faith that reminds us of Christ's ultimate sacrifice - giving access to all through His selfless act of love. This powerful message of inclusion resonates deeply with me, shaping my personal and professional journey over the past 28 years in education.
My path began at university level, where I felt a distinct calling to help those most vulnerable. This calling has taken me across three countries, where I've worked, studied, and volunteered in orphanages, schools, and universities, always striving to make a meaningful difference. Each morning, I come to work in service to our students, constantly seeking new opportunities that will empower them to reach their full potential and become the best versions of themselves.
As a published author and highly qualified leader in inclusion, I draw strength from my strong foundation in psychology and pedagogy, constantly adapting teaching, resources, environments, and approaches to remove barriers and maximise potential. The theoretical knowledge, combined with years of experience, fuels my passion to support not just our school community but also the wider community around us. Easter’s message of hope and new beginnings aligns perfectly with our mission to ensure every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the education and support they deserve.
In my role as SENDCO and Assistant Headteacher, I work tirelessly with families, professionals, and organisations to secure the best possible support for our students. These positions have empowered me to do right by all and blessed me with incredible opportunities to meet amazing young people and their families. I've had the honour of journeying alongside them, from moments of vulnerability to stages of remarkable success—whether that’s university acceptance, securing apprenticeships, or entering the world of work.
Like the Easter story teaches us about transformation, I’ve witnessed countless inspiring transformations in our students when given the right support and belief in their abilities. As we embrace this season of renewal, let’s continue to work together, supporting each other and celebrating the unique gifts each member of our community brings.
Wishing you all a blessed Easter season filled with hope and new beginnings!

Hunterian Museum
A fascinating day at the Hunterian Museum with our Year 12 Health & Social Care students!
From exploring anatomical specimens to comparing historical and modern surgery, our students gained a real insight into the evolution of medical science. The highlight was a talk from a retired surgeon on the incredible role of robotics in surgery — a glimpse into the future of healthcare!
A huge thank you to the Royal College of Surgeons for an inspiring experience.
Lent Project
As part of our Lent project celebrating the rebirth of Christ, we welcomed the arrival of our chicks! It was a heartwarming moment, symbolising new beginnings and the beauty of creation. The gentle chirps and tiny movements brought a sense of wonder and joy to our school community.
Over the coming days, our students will have the incredible opportunity to observe the chicks as they hatch and grow, learning first-hand about the fragility and resilience of new life. From the moment they break free from their shells to their first precious steps, each stage will offer a valuable lesson in care, responsibility, and the miracles of nature.
This experience also encourages reflection on the themes of Lent — renewal, growth, and nurturing life. Our students will engage in discussions and activities inspired by the chicks' journey, deepening their understanding of the season’s spiritual significance.
Once the chicks are ready, they will be lovingly homed at a local farm, where they will thrive and continue their journey. It is a beautiful reminder of the cycle of life and the hope that Easter brings. We look forward to sharing this special experience with our school community in the days ahead!
