Lots of smiles and colorful gear to brighten up your week! Lots of smiles and colorful gear to brighten up your week!

Dear Families,

It’s been a great relief to get outside for recess. The conditions have been wonderfully comfortable. Activities such as the carving and building of intricate tunnel mazes: a floppy, joyful 2-hand touch ball game; endlessly creative sledding, etc. are in abundance. I am continuously amazed to see the problem solving and original twists the children build into their play and construction, so much of it collaborative.

Mid-year progress reporting:

  • I hope you found your child’s progress report which was sent home with them last Friday. If you haven’t seen it, check their backpack and, if it’s not there, please let us know and we will send another.

  • If your child has an IEP, they will receive an IEP progress report in February.

  • FASTBridge reading and math assessments have been completed and reports will be sent home next week.

  • Spring conference window is 3/2 -3/27.

Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Valentines Day: Surprise Valentines are in serious production. I hope you have time to stop by next week to experience the warmth of the bulletin board in the front hall. Children will still have time in art class and open art next week to make their Valentine or they can make them at home. They should not include candy or other gifts/trinkets. Rachel will facilitate the exchange of cards February 13.

In addition to the exchange of Surprise Valentines on the 13th, each class will have cookies and strawberry milk at some point during the day. We ask that children not bring in cards, other than the one they make for their Surprise Valentine, and there is no need for extra treats to come in. We’ve got it covered!

Lunch help: For next week we need volunteers for Thursday and Friday. If either of these days work for you, please let me know or sign up directly on the February lunch calendar. If you can schedule ahead into March, please do.

Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301).

Once again, stay warm! Christina
