Crossing guards help students arrive safely at Rush Creek Elementary School
Rain, snow or shine, the crossing guards at elementary schools across the district protect our scholars every day, helping them to arrive safely at school and when leaving at the end of the day. At Rush Creek Elementary School, the crossing guards work in the back of the building and in a nearby neighborhood, keeping students safe from buses and cars and giving them a safe way to get to and from school!
“I like that you get to hold out the flag, and all the buses will stop,” said fifth grader Grant Ambrosia. “It is fun to be a crossing guard because we get a field trip at the end of the year, we get hot chocolate on cold days and we get a special square in the yearbook!”
Students learn about bus safety at Basswood Elementary School
At the beginning of the school year, students at Basswood Elementary School brushed up on their bus safety skills! Third graders in Ms. Kasper’s class learned where to stand to wait for the bus, how to get on and off, where the cameras and emergency exits are and how to sit and act while riding the bus.
