Harrington Middle School SeaPerch teams Katrina and Salvataras competed at the International SeaPerch Challenge, which took place on May 30th and 31st at the University of Maryland. Teams created technical design reports [to communicate the team's intentional design process], gave a presentation about their SeaPerch journey, and competed in two pool events: Mission Course and Obstacle Course. The Obstacle Course tests high-speed maneuverability and requires the SeaPerch ROV to navigate the course as quickly as possible. This year's theme for the Mission Course was Storm Response: Technology in Action for Recovery and Relief. The challenges reflected the real-world role of robotics in helping communities respond to and recover from storms and other natural events.

210 teams from 6 different countries competed.

For Middle School Stock Class, Katrina placed 9th overall out of 88 teams.

For Open Class (which includes both middle schools and high schools), Salvataras placed 6th overall out of 40 teams.

Head coach Mr. Grundel and assistant coach Ms. Ashman are so proud of all the hard work and dedication that the teams put in this season.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION AGE REQUIREMENTS KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION AGE REQUIREMENTS

All children must be five (5) years old on or before October 1 to be eligible for kindergarten enrollment. Accordingly, students are expected to enter kindergarten during the school year in which they are age five.

Parents should not delay a child's enrollment in kindergarten with the expectation that the child will begin kindergarten at age six. If a child who is age six is presented for initial enrollment, the child will be placed in first grade consistent with the district's age-based grade placement requirements.

Please be advised that beginning with the 2027–2028 school year, the district will no longer consider or approve requests for placement in a grade level that is inconsistent with a student's age and standard grade progression.
