49ers Girls Flag Football Camp - At Montera!
WHAT: Girls Breaking Barriers in STEAM and Flag Football
Dates: February 18th, 20th, 25th, and 27th
SIGN UP: Have your child sign up in P7 THIS WEEK!
This incredible 49ers camp is for ALL Montera girls who are interested in flag football (not just those who were part of this past season’s first ever OAL girls flag football championship team). Montera is one of the first middle school to be chosen for this unique opportunity!
We need at least 25-30 girls who are interested in participating in this four part mini camp. Please talk with your student about the camp and remind them to SIGN UP on the sign up sheet this week in PORTABLE 7 (Mr. Price's room).
With the sanctioning of Girl’s Flag Football as a varsity sport and it becoming an olympic sport, EDU and PREP, are teaming up to create a unique mini camp to encourage and inspire girls to participate in both STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and Flag Football. By creating an experience tailored towards middle school girls, this four-day mini camp will encourage girls to feel confident and equipped to participate in both STEAM and Flag Football at their high school.
Program:
Day 1: SEL Lesson
● Introduction to staff and programming. We will have a focused conversation around building rapport and confidence in students as both STEAM and football enthusiasts.
Day 2: STEAM Lesson
● Connecting concepts and ideas from Day 1. Students will participate in a design challenge that will expose them to collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking to tackle real world problems.
Day 3: PREP Skills & Drills
● Girls will participate in various drills to build skills and familiarity with the movements required in flag football. By engaging in fun and movement based learning, they will build confidence in their abilities.
Day 4: FLAG Scrimmage
● Applying the skills that they learned, girls will participate in dynamic warm ups and then will scrimmage each other in a fun and supportive environment.
