CFL Family Newsletter
October 2025
The Weather is Getting Colder!
Each year, as the weather begins to change, we want to remind parents to make sure that children are dressed appropriately before heading to school each day.
Our Colorado weather can change on a moment’s notice, and students need to be prepared for the changes. At CFL , our policy states that students will be sent outside for recess each day unless:
1. The outside temperature and/or wind chill is below 0
2. It is pouring rain.
3. An emergency is called by the Weather Service.
Recesses throughout the day last between 20-25. If students bring hats and gloves in their backpacks, they can be ready for any weather changes.
Through our Family Resource Center, we have hats, mittens and coats available for students and families in need. Please come in and visit with us if your child is in need of warm winter clothing.
Please help your child remember to bring the necessary items so they can be comfortable and enjoy their time outside at recess during the cold weather. If you would like to donate any new or lightly used winter clothing, please contact the Family Resource Center.
Our hope is that every student at CFL will be prepared for the cold winter ahead, and we thank you for doing your part at home to make sure that happens.

We begin our day at 7:40 a.m.
We end our day at 3:00 p.m.
"You're Busted" Tickets
If your child comes home wearing a “You’re Busted” ticket—don’t worry, it’s a good thing! This is a school-wide incentive we started last year to celebrate students who are following our Code of Conduct.
When staff notice a student being kind, taking care of themselves, or doing high-quality work, they award them a “Busted” ticket. Each week, tickets are entered into a drawing. Winners are announced over the intercom, receive a fun pencil, and get their picture displayed on our “Busted Wall.”
This is a fun and positive way to recognize the wonderful things our students are doing every day!
Office News
We would like to remind our CFL families to keep an extra set of clothes in your students backpack incase of a potty accident, food spill or for a health reason. Our supply is extremely low in the office.
Every Wednesday your child will take home their Wednesday Folders with communication about events and important happenings. PLEASE take time to go through it each week to avoid missing events or information that impacts things that are happening at school. Please return the folder the next school day/ Thank you!
Lastly, please remember to call before 2:00 PM with any end of day changes so that we can make sure proper communication happens.

PK News
🌟 Dear Preschool Families, 🌟
We hope you are enjoying the beauty of autumn as the days get cooler. At the Center for Family Learning, our priority is keeping children comfortable, cared for, and engaged every day.
🍂 Parent Tip: Building Strong Connections Through Play
Play is more than fun—it’s one of the best ways to support your child’s learning and strengthen your bond. Here are a few simple ways to make playtime meaningful:
Be Present: Put aside distractions and give your child your full attention.
Follow Their Lead: Let your child choose the activity—this builds confidence and independence.
Join at Their Level: Sit on the floor or wherever they are playing to encourage connection.
Ask Questions: Use open-ended questions like, “What do you think will happen next?”
Celebrate Efforts: Praise small achievements and encourage exploration.
Most of all, remember that the gift of your time is what matters most. Play builds language, problem-solving, and social skills, while also deepening the parent-child relationship.

Halloween Parties will be held on Friday October 31st
Halloween Parties will be on Friday, October 31st. Kids can dress up. Each teacher will send out communication about dress up expectations and how you can support them.
If you are planning on attending, you will need to complete a quick background check with our Raptor System. This process may take time, so we encourage you to please stop by the CFL office before this event with your ID so we can get you in the system. This will expedite the wait time.
As always - no blood, gore, or weapons. We are planning an outdoor costume parade. Parents are welcome to join us outside for the parade, which will be in front of the school at 1:45. Parties will follow.
