Family Update
Week of August 24, 2026 Family Update

Week of August 24, 2026
Welcome back to the 2026-2027 School Year at Skyline High School!
Dear Skyline Students and Families,
We are just over a week away from the start of another exciting school year, and we are looking forward to welcoming our students back to Skyline! We will send one more newsletter next week with final reminders and information to help everyone feel ready for the first day. For this week, we want to highlight a few important details about the start of the school year. On the first day of school, Monday, August 31, students should report to Skytime first thing in the morning. In Skytime, they will receive a final reprinted schedule with any changes to courses or room numbers updates. Please check your schedule you received at registration ahead of time so you know where you are going when you arrive.
Monday will be a half day, with students being released at 11:00 a.m. During the first week, Tuesday through Thursday will follow our Skytime bell schedule, giving everyone an opportunity to settle into routines, learn the building, and get comfortable with the start of the year.Bus schedules are included further down in this newsletter, so please take a moment to review your route and schedule before the first day. We are excited to see our students back in the building and begin the year together! Thank you for taking the time to review these details and prepare for a smooth start. We can't wait to welcome you to Skyline for the 2026–27 school year!
Warmly,
Skyline Administration Team
Casey Elmore, Andre Criswell, Terri Patterson, Delsie Sissoko and Lamanzer Williams
26-27 Registration
Why attend registration?
All students must report to Skyline High School to register for the 2026-2027 school year. It is best for students and families to register according to the registration schedule listed above. Athletic practices or other school activities do not have priority over registration times and dates. Attending the scheduled registration date will allow your student to follow their schedule on the first day of school with no delays.
During registration days, students will pick up their new computers, pick up their class schedule, have their school picture taken and get their student ID printed. Getting an ID at registration ensures that students can participate in our school events where IDs are required for entry and attend skyline athletic events free of charge as soon as events begin for the year with no delay.
Please note our goal is to help our families complete the registration process simply and in as little time as possible. To accomplish this, it is crucial that families and students are timely and prepared. We ask all online forms and documentation be completed through the InfoSnap process and any outstanding obligations are taken care of prior to your student(s) scheduled time for registration.
**Students who do not complete the InfoSnap online registration will need to do so at one of our computer stations before they can proceed with registration.**
**Families who moved over the summer and still need to provide proof of residency will need to do so prior to registration.**
Class schedules will be issued at registration. Schedule changes will not be made during registration. If you have reason to believe there is an error, please complete a schedule adjustment request form. Your counselor will contact you to discuss the request. Changes motivated by teacher or lunch preference are NOT permitted.
Obligations are items borrowed from the school that must be returned in order to register for classes or receive school issued items. Items that are not returned must be paid for. Seniors will not receive their Cap and Gown until all obligations are rectified. Underclassmen will not be eligible for registration until all obligations are rectified.
What can be purchased at registration?
There are several items that may be purchased ahead of time during our registration process. Included here are items available for purchase and some tentative pricing so you may plan accordingly.
- School Pictures (pay online)
- Parking Pass (may be purchased online)…..…….$50
- Homecoming Ticket…………….…….$25
- PTSO Dues…………………..……….$50.00 per student
- SABC (Athletic Boosters) dues.........$40.00

Skyline High School is excited to welcome HR Imaging Partners as our new school photography partner. HR Imaging replaces Geskus as our school photography company offering traditional and contemporary portrait options designed to capture students in a variety of settings and styles. Specifically, they will serve our photography needs with Registration, Student ID, Graduation and families can order from them as well. Learn more about HR Imaging Partners
HR Imaging will be at Skyline for student registration dates!
Student ID Photo Update
We apologize for the distorted photos that appeared on some student ID cards during the first day of Registration. We experienced electrical issues that affected the auditorium lighting and, in turn, impacted the quality of some of the photos taken by HR Imaging. We've discussed the issue with HR Imaging, asked for some follow up actions on their side and have some options for students if they were impacted.
If your student’s ID photo was affected, we have a few options:
Retake during Make-Up Registration: Return to Skyline on Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. to have the photo retaken. Please bring your current ID and report to the auditorium photo line.
Retake during the school year: HR Imaging will be back at Skyline on October 14, 2026, during the 1st trimester, for additional photo retakes.
Electronic ID Cards
We will also have an electronic ID card option available, which we strongly recommend for all students to pair with their hardcopy ID. Students with personal devices will be able to scan a QR code that can be downloaded and used as their school ID.
The electronic ID can be used for a variety of purposes, including:
Entering after-school events
Entering the school building during the school day for late arrivals
Providing identification when needed throughout the school day
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the photo-quality issues from Day 1!
Feel free to contact Mr. Andre Criswell, SLC Principal via email at criswella@aaps.k12.mi.us for any questions or concerns.
Student & Family Handbook
Please Review the Student & Family Handbook
As we begin a new school year, we ask all students and families to take some time to read and review the Skyline High School Student & Family Handbook. The handbook contains important information about school expectations, policies, procedures, student responsibilities, attendance, academic guidelines, safety, and the many resources available to support our students. Taking the time to become familiar with this information will help ensure that everyone understands what is expected and knows where to turn when questions arise. Clear is Kind, and making sure our students and families have a shared understanding of our expectations is an important part of creating a safe, supportive, and successful school community. Please review the handbook together and reach out to us if you have any questions.
Traffic Flow
Please share this info with other family members or friends who may be picking-up or dropping-off students like you: THE SPEED LIMIT WHILE ON CAMPUS IS 10 MPH. Please drive slowly for the safety of all! Students arriving to school should be dropped off at the Student Entrance using the parent drop-off loop ONLY. Students will be required to present their student ID (physical or digital) upon entry to the building. Students who have already been called out and approved for early dismissal should be picked up at the parent pick-up loop at any time during the school day. The only time a student will be picked up at the main office is if a parent/guardian is coming in to pick up a student and this early release has not previously been called into the attendance line or front desk. Morning Arrival/Drop Off: PLEASE PACK YOUR PATIENCE and be kind! If you are turning into the parent drop-off loop, you should be in the left lane along the stadium. You should not be crossing over traffic to turn into the parent drop-off loop. The drop-off loop is ONE LANE ONLY! Students are exiting vehicles and we do not want cars driving past them as they are exiting their vehicles. There are barricades in the inner lane for a reason, please do not ignore them. We are doing our best to move people forward and to keep the line moving as quickly as possible. Please drive around other children how you would want others to drive around your child. The parent drop-off loop is a constantly moving line. We ask that you ALWAYS pull forward in the loop as far as possible and do not stop right in front of the school as this slows down the line and causes unnecessary delays. There is no parking and sitting in the loop. If you need to sit and wait for your child, we ask that you move to a parking spot near the baseball fields or tennis courts to wait for them there, not in the loop. When you arrive in the loop at drop-off in the morning, your child should be prepared to quickly grab their belongings and hop out of the vehicle as soon as you are able to come to a complete stop in the loop. This could occur at any spot in the loop, not only directly in front of the school. The line should constantly be moving forward for a continuous flow through. END OF THE DAY PICK UP: PLEASE PACK YOUR PATIENCE and be kind! If you are turning into the parent pick-up loop, you should be in the left lane along the stadium. You should not be crossing over traffic to turn into the parent pick-up loop. We understand that students come out at somewhat staggered times at dismissal. For this reason, we ask that you communicate with your child about their after-school plan. If they are coming directly out to the car at dismissal, please move forward as far as possible and continue moving forward as traffic moves. If they are not coming out right at the end of the day, please do not pull into the parent pick-up loop until your child is coming out and park in a parking spot near the baseball fields or tennis courts until they are ready to exit the school. So that we can allow those who have already picked up their students to exit, only at the end of the day, we will allow the inner lane after the end curve closest to the school to be used to pass cars that are still waiting on their child. Please drive slowly, use your turn signals, watch for merging traffic, and pay close attention to students as you exit the pick up loop. There will only be one lane of traffic exiting the pick-up loop. When exiting, you should remain in the left lane. For this plan to work safely and efficiently, it's essential that everyone adheres to the designated drop-off areas and traffic flow. Dropping off students in non-designated areas not only disrupts the traffic flow but also creates potential safety hazards for students walking in areas where pedestrian traffic is not expected. Do not drop students off in the student parking lot, this is not a student drop off location and creates dangerous traffic patterns that the space is not intended for. Our students consistently complain about parents dropping off in the student parking lot. Skyline has designed its traffic flow plan to optimize the use and safety of our roadways and parking areas. The road surrounding the stadium, baseball fields, tennis courts, and school will operate as a one-way route. Please refer to the diagram above for detailed traffic directions. Areas marked with blue arrows indicate one-way traffic, while sections with both blue and orange arrows are the only locations on campus where two-way traffic is permitted. The east side drop-off loop will continue to be used exclusively for parent drop-offs, and the west side loop will remain reserved for buses only. Please note that parking is prohibited in both loops at all times. A few years ago Mr. O, Payton, and Valencia made this short video to help you understand the traffic flow on campus. It states "2024 - 2025" at the beginning, but the video remains valid: Video linked here
Please keep in mind, that you are the model for our
future drivers!
Counselor Connection
Schedule Change Reminder
As we prepare for the start of the school year, we want to remind students and families that schedule changes will be very limited this year and will only be considered for approved reasons, based on space availability. At the end of last school year, we communicated clearly that students should carefully review their course requests for the 2026–27 school year and that there would be very limited opportunities to make changes once the school year began. Our master schedule is built based on student course requests. For returning students, if a course was not requested during the course selection process, we did not build a seat for you in that class. Our counselors are working hard to review the schedule change requests submitted through the Google Form and will prioritize requests that meet the established criteria. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as our counselors work through requests and finalize schedules for the start of the year.
PowerSchool & Schoology Access for Parents & Caretakers
AAPS is excited to announce a new centralized hub for student information and communication called MyPowerHub. This new hub will serve as a one-stop portal designed to better serve our students and families. This streamlined system will bring together everything from grades and attendance to schedules, assignments, and communication tools, all in one easy-to-access location. By simplifying access and enhancing the user experience, we’re making it easier than ever for families to stay informed and engaged in their student’s education. This is a major step forward in our commitment to providing seamless, efficient, and supportive tools for student success.

🍎 🍕 Free Breakfast & Lunch for All AAPS Students!
Free Breakfast & Lunch for All AAPS Students - No Need to Qualify but we need the Education Benefit Form (EBF).
We are excited to remind families that breakfast and lunch are FREE for all Ann Arbor Public Schools students during the 2026-27 school year! Students do not need to qualify for free or reduced-price meals to receive a free breakfast or lunch. (Ann Arbor Public Schools)
What We Need From Every Family:
Although meals are free for all students, ALL AAPS families are asked to complete the annual Education Benefit Form (EBF). The information collected through this form helps AAPS identify students who may qualify for additional benefits and, importantly, helps the district receive state and federal funding that supports our schools.
EBF information can help determine eligibility for programs such as:
Free or reduced-price meal benefits
Pay-to-Participate assistance
Food support programs
Field trip assistance
School supply or school fee assistance
Holiday support
Potential household support for cable and internet (Ann Arbor Public Schools)
One More Important Note
Free breakfast and lunch cover complete breakfast and lunch meals. A la carte items, such as an individual carton of milk or other individual items, are not included and will be charged to the student's account. (Ann Arbor Public Schools)
Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete the EBF! Your participation helps ensure that AAPS receives the funding and resources needed to support our students and schools. (Ann Arbor Public Schools)

Skyline Athletics
Welcome back!
Hello Families and Students,
Huge thank you to the students that attended our Sports kick off Athletic meeting! It was so invigorating to see all the faces. We have our annual T. Wall carnival the week of homecoming. We will need a lot of athlete support to run this event! For any athlete interested in applying to be a part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, the application is here.
All students must be fully registered and have completed the pay to play fee through Rec & Ed. A sports physical is required as well. Below are some important links with a lot of information. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the athletic office if you have questions. Also, please check out the athletics website!
ATHLETE ATTENDANCE
Athletes are required to be in school a minimum of 3 class periods in order to participate in practice or competition each day. All coaches will be receiving an ineligible list of players daily. It is our expectation that coaches check this daily and exclude those players from practice or competition.
Any student new to Skyline and is in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade must complete the New Student Form and be approved by the athletic director before participating or trying out in any sport!
There is no parking at any time in our pickup/drop off loops!
Please check out the Ann Arbor Skyline Eagles App!
Sincerely,
Delsie Sissoko
Athletic Director
Assistant Principal
Notes from Nurse Mary
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! My name is Mary Delis and I am entering my ninth year of school nursing and my second year at Skyline. I look forward to working with you and your students this school year.
Please reach out to me if you have any health updates or questions.
If your student requires medication or emergency medication (epi pens, albuterol inhaler, etc) to be kept at school, AAPS medication administration policy requires updated documentation each school year.
Please have Action Plans (Asthma, Food or Seizure) completed by your healthcare provider and submitted to me via email or in paper form.
If your student does not have a specific plan, please see links for AAPS order forms. I recommend that families choose the Self-Administration option for their students at the high school level. Exceptions may apply in some situations - students may not carry controlled substances under any circumstances. Please reach out to me if you have any concerns. I also recommend that students keep a copy of documentation with their self-carry medication at school.
AAPS Medication Administration Forms
Please see AAPS Medication Policy for details on medication submission.
I will be present at the Skyline registration dates on August 17th and 19th. You may submit any paperwork and medication during those times. Please note that controlled substances must be submitted by a parent or guardian and must be counted at the time of submission.
Thank you in advance for your support. Enjoy the last days of summer!

AAATA Bus Passes for Eligible Students
The Ann Arbor Public Schools is pleased to offer eligible high school students an AAATA bus pass if they live within the AAATA service area, and live further than 1.5 miles from their assigned high school. AAPS does not provide AAATA bus passes to In-District Transfer or School of Choice students. These students can apply for a Space Available seat on an existing bus route. You can apply at this link:AAPS Space Available Application
Eligible students can pick up their bus pass during registration or at the main office. If you are uncertain weather your student is eligible for a bus pass, you can check the Attendance by Street Directory . There is an "A" after the street name/address if your student's address qualifies for an AAATA bus pass.
AAATA bus passes are good for two (2) trips per day, Monday - Friday during the school year.
Successful Link Crew Orientation
On Monday, Over 250 Freshmen and students new to Skyline attended the Link Crew Orientation session. Link Crew is a high school transition program, where Juniors and Seniors are trained to serve as leaders, mentors, and positive role models for students new to the building. At Monday's Orientation session, Link Leaders ran a high-energy welcome day, featuring small groups, icebreakers, and building tours. The high-energy was ignited by Mr. Bertsos (Mr. B.) and Ms. Stark.
PTSO
As we plan for the coming school year, the Skyline High School PTSO is looking for parents and caregivers to join our board and help support the students, teachers, and staff who make Skyline such a special community. The PTSO plays an important role in funding student programs, supporting classrooms, and strengthening connections across the school—and we need new voices to continue that work. We will have openings for Vice President, and two Member‑at‑Large positions. These roles offer a meaningful way to get involved without an overwhelming time commitment. Board meetings are held once a month for about 45 minutes via Zoom, with full PTSO meetings following the board meeting every other month. Serving on the board is an impactful way to support Skyline, ensure your perspective is heard, and help make a difference for our students and staff. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, this is a great opportunity to step forward. Please reach out to Brent Hegwood at bhegwood@gmail.com for more information.
Education Benefit Forms for All Families Due October 1st
Please take a moment to complete the form and return it to your student’s school. The Education Benefits Form collects information needed to ensure the school receives state and federal funding for education programs. Without this information, our school could lose important funding for education programs that our students need. These supplemental grants and programs have the potential to offer supports and services for our students including, but not limited to:
· Instructional staff (ex. Reading Interventionists, Math Tutors, Academic & Behavior Aids)
· Teaching supplies and materials
· Counselors and Social Workers
· School Nurses
· Professional Learning for staff
· Parent and Community engagement supplies and activities
· Technology
Why is the school requesting financial information?
The Education Benefits Form determines eligibility of a student or household. The total count of eligible students is used to determine the funding amounts that will be made available to a school. The more forms returned the better.
What do I need to do?
Please complete the attached form and return it to your child’s school. Families only need to fill on ONE form, listing all their children.
What else might my student or household be eligible for?
Based on the information you provide on your Education Benefits Form, your child may qualify for other programs such as:
· Pay to play or Pay to Participate
· Programs that provide food support
· Programs that provide field trip support
· Programs that provide school supplies or assist with school fees
· Programs that provide holiday support
· Potential household support for cable and internet
