A Message from the School Board of Directors

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the children, families, and taxpayers of the Upper Darby School District. As part of the School Board communication plan, the Board sends monthly updates to the school community. The information included in these briefs is not intended to be complete and does not replace official Board minutes. Official meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and presentations are available at BoardDocs. Also, the Board meetings are live streamed to the District's Official UDSD Board & Board Committee Meetings YouTube Channel. We welcome you to follow the issues the School Board is considering and to attend meetings to stay informed.

UDHS Wall of Fame Seeking Nominations

The Upper Darby High School Wall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations for the 2023 UDHS Wall of Fame Ceremony. The goal of the Wall of Fame is to honor our alumni while providing diverse examples of success for our current students.

Who is eligible for nomination?

Alumni that have distinguished academic achievements, professional accomplishments, service to the Upper Darby School District or community, musical and athletic honors as well as philanthropic endeavors.

YMCA 2023 Summer Camp Registration

The YMCA is proud to partner with the Upper Darby School District in offering Summer Camp. Summer camp will run from June 12th to August 18th. Summer camp locations are Highland Park Elementary School, Westbrook Park Elementary School and the Kindergarten Center.

Possible Walter M. Senkow/Aronimink Elementary Schools Merger (FAQ)

March Meeting Highlights

Elementary School Playground Equipment - Contract Awarded

The Board approved an award to Recreation Resources USA, LLC, to furnish and install playground equipment at all district-owned elementary schools as well as the Kindergarten Center and the preschool playground at the high school. These updates will be completed prior to the first student day of the 2023-24 school year.

Graduation Venue Agreement - Approved

The Board approved an agreement with The Liacouras Center at Temple University to host the Upper Darby High School Graduation events for the three-year period from June 2023-2025.

High School Track and Field - Approved

The Board approved a contract with Ingram EngineeringServices, Inc. to provide a design review and construction inspection of the Upper Darby High School Track and Field. Anticipated completion of the high school track and field is Fall of 2023.

District-Wide Facility Study Report - Approved

Site LogIQ, Schrader Group, and T&M Engineering submitted and the Board approved reports on the District’s facilities. Schrader Group and T&M Engineering performed a building capacity analysis and gave recommendations for a long-range plan. Additionally, they provided the results of a site analysis which reviewed potential locations for a new elementary school, along with the associated pros and cons of each location. SitelogIQ performed a comprehensive building assessment on all District-owned schools. The assessments included all aspects of the locations: grounds, building envelope, architectural finishes, code compliance, systems, and equipment. Additionally, facility costs were calculated for each category at each school.
