Title 1 - Federal Funding Status
We still need nominees!
If you have not heard, Lakewood will become a Title I school beginning in the 2027–28 school year. This begs the question: What is Title 1?
Title I is a federal program that provides additional resources to schools based on the percentage of students who meet federal eligibility guidelines related to family income. These additional resources can support academic programs, instructional materials, staff development, and other efforts to help our students succeed.
This year, we will begin the work of preparing to become Title 1. As part of becoming a Title I school, Lakewood will establish a School Site Council to help make decisions about how Title I funding is used. The council will operate similarly to our Parent Club executive board, with parents and staff working together to support our students.
A nomination form for anyone interested in serving on the School Site Council has been included below. Please consider nominating yourself or someone else who would be interested in being part of this important work.
