Come Join Us for Black Excellence Night - 2/26 @ 5:30
We can't wait to see you at this year's Black Excellence Night. We look forward to an evening of dinner, activities, performances and community.
Please remember that for safety reasons, all students need to be accompanied by an adult around the building throughout the evening.
Thank you, BCU & Costco, for providing dinner for our community!
It's Fast! It's Easy! A Quick, Warm Drop Off Option!
It’s cold outside! Want to stay warm during morning drop-off? You are invited to use our convenient parking lot drop-off option, available for all grades. This option helps save time and build student independence all at once.
A staff member is present in the parking lot and along the route to the annex to make sure everyone gets where they need to go. See you there!

What We’re Looking For:
Toys (new or gently used), Candy, Stickers, Arts & Crafts Supplies, Fidgets, Learning Games, Board Games, Journals, Fun jewelry collectables, Clean stuffies etc.
Why: Financial literacy is your treasure map! It teaches you to save, spend wisely, and make smart choices—helping you become a money wizard for a bright future!
Drop-Off Locations: Donation Box found in the office
Every little bit helps! Let’s create a vibrant store for our students. We can work together to get students excited about making an earning, counting, saving, and spending smart. Together, we can make a difference!
Theme of the Month - Kindness
This month, we're focusing on one of the most powerful and important qualities we can cultivate: Kindness!
Kindness is about showing care, compassion, and friendliness to others. It's about thinking how our words and actions make others feel and choosing to make a positive difference in their day. For our elementary students, practicing kindness helps build a strong, supportive, and joyful school community.
Throughout July, we'll be exploring what kindness looks like in action. This might include:
Using Kind Words: Encouraging students to use polite language, offer compliments, and speak in a way that builds others up.
Helping Hands: Recognizing opportunities to help a classmate, a teacher, or someone in need, whether it's picking up a dropped item or offering assistance.
Inclusive Play: Making sure everyone feels welcome and included in games and activities, and reaching out to those who might be feeling left out.
Empathy in Action: Understanding and responding to the feelings of others, and choosing actions that show we care.
We'll be celebrating acts of kindness, big and small, as we learn how our compassion can spread throughout our classrooms and beyond. We encourage you to reinforce this at home by talking about moments of kindness you've witnessed or experienced, and by encouraging your child to think about how they can show kindness in their daily lives.
2/13 - School Spirit Day - Hearts Galore!
Friendship Parade 2/27 - Come cheer us on!
Grab your smiles and your cheers! Families are invited to line the route and cheer on our students during our Friendship Parade on Friday, February 27 at 1:45 PM.
Our students will be spreading kindness, friendship, and fun, and they’d love an audience to celebrate with them. We can’t wait to see you there cheering them on!
Attendance Matters
Every PPS school is working to increase their students' regular attendance because if students aren't in school, then they're missing critical learning opportunities. Our goal this year is to increase the number of students who have good or acceptable attendance by 15 percentage points, from 78% to 93%.
Comparing our attendance from this time last year to this year, we are up 3 percentage points! 12 more points to go!
If we can help you with attendance challenges, reach out to Katrina at kdeboer@pps.net.
Beach Bike Train - Join Us!
Reminder that Beach Bike Train rides every week! The ride is open to all beach students and families who want to avoid the school drop off and also get some fresh air and start their Friday mornings right!
If any student or family needs gear to attend (gloves, helmet, even a bike tune up) let our coordinator, Nic, know.

Knitting Club Starting Soon! (2nd - 5th Grades)
Would your child like to learn to knit or engage in other hand crafts? Have we got a club for them! Ms. Bridget would like to invite up to ten students to join her on Thursdays from 2:45-3:45 beginning February 12th.
Ms. Bridget would be happy to teach students how to knit and provide a space for students to engage in other hand crafts, as interested. She has a personal inventory of knitting needles, some yarn, and knitting patterns that she is ready to share with students, and students are more than welcome to provide their own materials if they would prefer.
If your child is interested, please fill out this permission form and return it to the main office.
