Message from the Baptist Hill SIC Chair Message from the Baptist Hill SIC Chair

Dear Students, Families, and Community Members,

Our high school stands on a proud and rich history, one built by generations of families, educators, and neighbors who believed in the power of community. That legacy continues today in the way we support one another and invest in our students’ success.

As Chairman of the School Improvement Council, I am honored to work alongside a community that values tradition while striving for continued growth. As of the 2025-2026 school year, there is now a standalone Baptist Hill Middle School to support middle-level students.

Together, we will ensure that our school remains a place where every student is known, supported, and inspired.

Thank you for being part of our story and for helping shape its future.

Sincerely,

Byron Graham, SIC Chairman

Baptist Hill High School proudly celebrated its 2025 South Carolina High School League state champion track and field student-athletes and coaches with a special ring ceremony on March 23, 2026.

Janiya Fludd (a senior) won the Class A girls’ 100-meter hurdles last spring, and Fludd teamed up with Emerald Alford, Jazerah Fenley, and Malayah Mitchell to take gold in the 4x100 relay. During the ceremony, coaches and student-athletes were presented with championship rings, commemorating a remarkable season of hard work and success.

The celebration was highlighted by a keynote address from legendary Lowcountry basketball coach Earl Brown, who inspired attendees with words on dedication and on honoring those who helped them achieve their success.

One extra note, Fludd recently competed on a national stage at the 2026 Nike Indoor Nationals, held at The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City. The prestigious event featured more than 5,500 of the nation’s top high school athletes.

Elevate Charleston: Future Educators

Charleston County School District (CCSD) is proud of the work being done to build an internal teacher pipeline. Elevate Charleston is one such program where CCSD works with high school students interested in becoming teachers. Those students go through an internship process during their junior and senior years to get real-world experience in the classroom. The end result is a commitment to become a CCSD teacher upon graduating from college. Three 2026 BHHS seniors, have committed to majoring in education and will return to teach in CCSD upon graduation. These students interned at Baptist Hill Middle School during the 2025-2026 school year.
