May was an extremely busy month for us at MES! We held our Kindergarten orientation at the beginning of the month to meet our new students for next year and our current Grade 4 students attended their MMS orientation. The MPI Bike Rodeo was a lot of fun for our students! The Grade 4 running club has been meeting every Tuesday and Thursday and they attended the Jog in the Park early in May. Many of our classes have also taken their learning outside of the building to locations like the park, The Manitoba Museum, The Mennonite Heritage Village, Golden West Radio, a dairy farm, and many more! As we head into June we have many things to look forward to including our student activity day and our year end family BBQ hosted by PAC. We look forward to seeing you all there!

This year, MES will be hosting the final 5km race for all Grade 4 Running Club students!

It will take place on Wednesday June 11 at 10 am. All parents, family and friends are welcome to come and cheer on their students as they celebrate their months of training with one final push to the finish line! Grade 4 finishers will celebrate with a spaghetti lunch after. We look forward to making this a MASSIVE and memorable event!

MES PAC is excited to host a BBQ picnic lunch on Friday, June 20. All proceeds raised at the picnic will go towards upcoming school projects.

BRING LAWN CHAIRS OR BLANKETS and enjoy lunch together with your children. All students and their families are invited to join.

Order forms have been sent home to pre-order your food for the picnic. Forms are to be handed in to their homeroom teachers by Wednesday, June 4 (One order per family)

**Only people who pre-order will receive hot dogs. There will be no purchases available on that day **

Staggered dismissal times for lunch:

11:00 am Kindergarten

11:10 am Grade 1

11:20 am Grade 2

11:30 am Grades 3 & 4

Lunch combos are $6 (hotdog, drink & chips)

There will be a Silent Auction with AMAZING prizes! Come view the table at the picnic and purchase some tickets for a chance to win! Tickets are $1 each.

Well, it is hard to believe that the end of another library school year is almost here. All student

library books and/or fine money are due by JUNE 6th . The first class to get all their books/fines

into the library will get an Ice cream Sundae Party, so get those books in. The library will then be closed for inventory.

Kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year is open! To be eligible, children must be five years of age on or before December 31, 2025. The registration process will take place online at www.hsd.ca. If you do not have access to the Internet, please visit the school office and we can assist you in completing the registration on a school computer.

In September we will be at Mitchell Elementary School on Tuesdays from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, starting September 16, 2025. Can’t make it for the whole 2 and a half hours? That’s fine with us! We are drop-in and you are always welcome to come late or leave early if that is what is best for you.

Infants are more than welcome and we cannot wait to meet you and your child(ren)!

Parents are required to stay with their child(ren). We are a free program and pre-registration is not required. Please bring indoor footwear!
