Career Exploration Day!
Career Exploration Day is Friday, May 2!
Grades 2 through 5 will begin Career Exploration Day at 8:30 and the kindergarten and first grade students will begin learning about careers at 12:00. Students and teachers rotate to different stations as they learn about different careers. Students will hear from parent volunteers about careers in aviation, law enforcement, veterinary medicine, the forest service, being a realtor, army recruiting, and about the game and fish department.
They will learn what interests, values, and skills drew people into these professions, the education, and training needed to pursue these professions, what motivates people to seek these careers, what a ”typical” workday entails, and the pros and cons of these careers.
Best of all, students will have the chance to ask questions! It is a great opportunity for our students
to learn about the variety of opportunities in the workforce and how people can follow their interests to enhance the world they live in! You may want to ask your student what they learned!

Adopt-a-Pilot is Back!
We are happy to continue working with the Adopt-a-Pilot program for the 7th year! Mr. Ted Gonzaga, a Southwest Airlines pilot, will make presentation to our 4th grade classes May, 1, May 14, and May 22.
The Adopt-a-Pilot program supports teachers in reinforcing the importance of school and how the power of hard work and commitment are essential to achieving dreams. Pilots lead activities in the Adopt-A-Pilot curriculum by making lessons in science, geography, and math come alive, demonstrating to students how these subjects can be applied in “real life.” Students track their "adopted" pilot's journey during the time that he or she is "on the road." We are happy to have Mr. Gonzaga back at Sunset School!

From Our School Nurse
No student medications are allowed to be kept at school over the summer months, therefore if you left medication at the school for your student to take this school year you will need to collect the
medication(s).
PICK UP BY:
- Friday, May 23 - Students who only have "as needed" medications (nothing daily & no emergency medications; i.e. cold medications, Tylenol, allergy meds, etc.)
- Friday, May 30 - Students who take daily medication or have emergency medications (i.e. inhalers, Epipens, seizure meds)
Any medication not picked up by Friday, May 30 at 1:35 pm will be discarded. The school nurse cannot send any medication home with your student so parents will need to make arrangements to pick these up yourselves. Please call me if you have any questions.
Thank you and have a happy, sunny summer!
