Madonna Catholic School News

Dear Madonna Families,
This weekend’s Gospel reminds us of the moment Jesus called His first disciples. Andrew and his brother Peter were busy fishing when Jesus invited them to follow Him — and they said “yes” right away. Their quick and joyful response shows us how important it is to listen to God’s call in our own hearts and to trust that He leads us toward good things.
We feel that same joy here at school as we celebrate a very special moment for many of our students. This Sunday at the 10:30am Mass at OLPH, a large group of our children will receive their First Holy Communion. This is a beautiful step in their faith journey, and we are so proud of their preparation, their excitement, and their “yes” to Jesus.
All families are warmly invited to join us in celebrating with them at Mass. Your presence helps show our students that they are surrounded by a loving and supportive faith community.
As we reflect on this week’s Gospel and the example of St. Andrew, may we all try to follow Jesus with open hearts, ready to say “yes” to kindness, faith, and love in our school every day.
Blessings,
Mrs. Cathy Hinger, Principal
Mrs. Fiona Wimmer, Assistant Principal

Parking Lot Safety Reminder
We kindly ask all parents and guardians to take extra care when dropping off and picking up students. In both the morning and after school, only the first six parking stalls at the entrance of the parking lot are available for parent use.
All remaining stalls are reserved for Madonna Catholic School staff and Boys & Girls Club staff.
Recently we have had issues in staff parking lot with parents driving to the far end and choosing to back out the entire lot. We've also received feedback both in person from neighbours that parents are at times blocking private driveways and taking risks in crossing the road between cars. This creates a significant safety risk for students, staff, and other families. There is plenty of space to drop off students along Malvern Drive, especially in the morning IF families respect the drop off and go zone. *Please note the RCMP have been made aware of the situation and are supporting us by observing the drop off zone as well. School drop off zone begins at 8:15am until 9:00am.
Please help us keep our school community safe by following the designated parking guidelines and exercising caution at all times. We all share the responsibility of ensuring a safe environment for our children.
Thank you for your cooperation and care.
