Parent-Teacher Conferences Are Coming Up - October 9th and 10th
Dear Davis Elementary Families,
We're excited to invite you to our upcoming parent-teacher conferences! Our teachers and students have been working hard preparing to share all of the wonderful learning that has taken place so far this year. These conferences are a valuable opportunity for you to learn about your child's strengths and areas for growth. You'll get to see firsthand the progress they've made and discuss how we can continue to support their development together. This year, students have also been encouraged to set their own learning goals, and they are eager to share what they want to accomplish! It's wonderful to see their enthusiasm and ownership of their learning journey.
Important Reminders:
- Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 9th from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday, October 10th from 8 a.m .- Noon.
- Pick-A-Time is found on the βHomeβ page of Home Access Center.

π« Fabulous Friends!! π¬
Thank you to everyone who donated their extra coins and came out to support the annual Kick-a-thon! Davis raised $216.19! The community coming together from elementary through high school is a true sense of belonging. We had a great turn out to represent Davis Elementary School. Thank you to Ms. Thomas and Mrs. Oster for leading our student council members for this special event!
Fire Safety Week at Davis Elementary
We had an incredible fire safety experience at Davis Elementary this week, thanks to the St. Charles Fire Department! Our students were thrilled to learn from real firefighters and participate in hands-on safety activities.
Our kindergartners had the special opportunity to see all the gear that firefighters wear and learned essential fire safety basics. The excitement in their eyes as they explored the equipment was priceless!
First graders enjoyed an engaging assembly where they learned all about fire safety and how to keep themselves safe in various situations.
Our second graders took their learning to the next level in the fire safety trailer, where they practiced what they learned about escaping a fire. They even got to safely exit through a windowβa skill we hope they'll never need, but are so glad they know!
As a grand finale, all of our K-2 students were amazed by the ladder truck demonstration. The "oohs" and "aahs" could be heard across the playground!
A heartfelt thank you to the St. Charles Fire Department for their time, expertise, and dedication to keeping our community safe. These real-world learning experiences are invaluable for our students!
Community Cabinet Food Drive.
D303 is supporting the St. Charles Public Library with their Community Cabinet Food Drive. Parents and students may bring donations to bins either at the St. Charles Public Library or any D303 School. Donations will be accepted from Oct. 13-31. Thank you for your support!
Halloween Parade & Party Information - Friday, October 31st
Parade
The parade will be held outside from 1:55 to 2:15 pm. Parents may line up around the Kindergarten playground off of Horne Street to watch the parade.
Classroom parties will run from 2:15 pm to 3:00 pm
Room Parents will be allowed to go to classrooms at 1:30 pm for party setup and to assist with costumes after they have checked in at the office
In the event of inclement weather, there will not be a parade
Costume & Party Guidelines
Students should bring costumes in a bag. Costumes must be appropriate for school. Costumes should not be violent or scary in nature. No blood, guts, or weapons. No masks. Make-up is discouraged because it is difficult to apply. No bare midriffs or scant clothing. Students may be asked to remove or put away any parts of costumes based on teacher judgment.
Room Parents who are assisting with the parties should not wear disguises that would make it difficult to recognize them as a safe person
Only Room Parents may attend the classroom parties and assist students.
Room Parent Guidelines
No more than 4 room parents per classroom may attend. (Others may assist with preparations or goody bags). Sign-up for Room Parents was completed through our PTO in September.
If you have never had your ID/drivers license scanned at the school, it is very helpful to have that done prior to the party. Stop by the office at your convenience.
Room Parents should make childcare arrangements for younger children; they may not attend the party.
Lead Parent: Work with the classroom teacher & other room parents on activities/games for the party
Lead Parent: Coordinate with the teacher & other room parents on any non-edible goody bags to be sent home. No food treats will be eaten during the party or sent home.
Veterans Day Assembly
Please fill out this form if you would like to honor a veteran at Davis' Veterans Day Celebration on Tuesday, November 11th at 2:00. We invite our veterans to come to Davis at 1:45 pm to enjoy a school assembly and a small reception afterwards with their families. We need your help! We would love to invite as many veterans as we can. Forms will be accepted until Wednesday, November 5th.
In addition, your child is bringing home a small Veteran Poster that you can complete if you have a family member or loved one who is a Veteran (or currently serving). News from the Nurse
Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease
All schools have received an alert from public health that hand, foot and mouth disease has been seen throughout our community. We have also seen an uptick in the number of students here at Davis. This is a viral illness which occurs commonly in children under 10 years old. However, older children and adults may contract it as well.
This usually starts with a sore throat and low grade fever. Small blisters form on the inside of the mouth, lips and throat. The skin rash develop as red raised spots on fingers, hands and feet. The blisters may break easily and form small ulcers that become red. This virus is contagious during the first week of the illness. Symptoms may occur 7-10 days after exposure. Children displaying symptoms of open draining lesions or fever will be excluded until those symptoms are no longer present.
A mild case takes about 7-10 days to resolve. Good handwashing is very important to stop the spread. In addition, our custodians are putting in extra efforts for cleaning including door knobs, faucets, table tops and bathrooms.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you,
