There’s nothing quite like the energy, excitement, and friendly competition of a dodgeball tournament at Sullivan Middle School! This week, students and staff came together for one of our favorite traditions—our SMS Dodgeball Tournaments—and once again, they did not disappoint.

From creative team names and coordinated outfits to impressive dodges and dramatic last-minute victories, our gym was full of school spirit and laughter. These tournaments not only provide a fun break from the routine, but they also encourage teamwork, sportsmanship, and school pride.

Thank you to our staff for organizing and supervising, and to all the students who participated with such great attitudes and enthusiasm.

Field Day at Carlisle Elementary School was one for the books! From start to finish, the students spent the day running, laughing, and playing their hearts out—and the smiles never left their faces.

A huge thank you goes out to the amazing Carlisle PTO for organizing this unforgettable event. From planning to setup, games to snacks, your dedication and creativity made the day extra special for everyone involved.

Whether it was relay races, tug-of-war, or simply enjoying the sunshine with friends, Field Day reminded us all how important it is to celebrate the joy of childhood and community.

We’re pretty sure there were some sleepy students (and teachers!) by the end of the day—but the memories made will last a long time!

Sullivan Elementary School was excited to celebrate a year of positive behavior with a fun-filled day for students. Throughout the school year, SES students have demonstrated kindness, respect, responsibility, and perseverance—and Thursday, they were rewarded with a celebration they won’t forget!

Staff and volunteers were busy preparing for the big celebration, ensuring everything was in place for a memorable day. Sullivan Elementary would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Danny Wegner and Travis Samm for making a special delivery for the event and helping with preparations.

A big shoutout also goes to Matt Price for providing the ever-popular dunk tank, which brought smiles and laughter to students and staff alike.

Southwest School Corporation will be distributing free non-congregate summer meals at Sullivan High School each Wednesday in June (June 4, 11, 18, and 25, 2025) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Door #15.

Each child in your home is eligible to receive 5 days’ worth of breakfast, lunch, and milk—but pre-registration is required. If you’re not registered, children must be present in the vehicle to receive meals.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

If your children are not Southwest students, they must be in the car the first time you pick up meals or you must bring student verification—this is only required once.

Location: Sullivan High School, Door #15

Time: 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Must be in line by 1:30 p.m.)

Join coaches Wes Kirk, Jeff Lookebill, and Kathleen Jones this summer for the Sullivan Elementary, Middle School, and High School Tennis Clinics. These weekly sessions offer students a fun and structured opportunity to sharpen their skills in stroke technique, strategy, drilling, and match play.

Led by award-winning Coach Wes Kirk—named Indiana Coach of the Year in 2021 and 2023—this program welcomes new and returning players.

Location: Sullivan Middle School tennis courts
Clinic Dates: June through July
Cost: Varies by clinic level and option
Entry Deadline: Friday, May 24th

Don't miss out on this year's Summer Soccer Camp! Forms are now available and can be picked up at La Pachanga, the SES and SMS school offices, or you can register in person on the first day of camp at the SHS soccer field.

Camp sessions will be led by Kurt Hauger, Katy Hiatt (girls soccer coach), and Cobie Harrison (boys soccer coach). This is a great opportunity for students to sharpen their skills, stay active, and have fun over the summer!

All participants will receive a soccer ball on the last day of camp!

• Sullivan Middle is hosting Summer Volleyball Open Gym for any incoming 6th, 7th & 8th grade girls interested. Open gym dates are July 8th, 10th, 16th, 17th, 22nd, 23rd, 30th & 31st from 5:30pm to 7pm. Volleyball tryouts for 7th & 8th grade will be on August 7th & 8th from 5:15 pm to 7pm. You must have a current physical on file to attend.
