Junior/Senior College Bound Parent Info Night
We held our first Junior/Senior College Bound Parent Information event on November 13th which featured a panel of former senior parents. The informal session allowed parents/guardians to get a parent's experience with things like navigating college tours and timelines. Thank you to our parent panel which included Nicole Lynch, Kimberly Sullivan, Nidya Bauer, and Tara Swenson for sharing their insight. We are looking forward to making this an annual event.
Fergus, a Therapy Dog, Will Be Here on Tuesday, November 21st

Students can hang out with Fergus for 10-15 mins before returning to their FLEX class.
Parent Discussion Opportunity: December 4th
Battlefield HS presents Tori Stone, Ph.D.., LPC, and Jennifer Walk, LPC for a discussion on teen anxiety and mental health on 12/4/23 from 6pm - 8pm in the BHS Auditorium. "Teen anxiety is ubiquitous and on the rise. Parenting anxious kids is hard; it can feel like a never-ending cycle that can make us question every decision. Unchecked, anxiety can take over our homes and steal our peace. In this session, parents will hear from two Licensed Professional Counselors who each have more than 20 years of professional experience working with teens, as well as teens of their own. Parent participants will learn more about anxiety and will build skills to support their anxious teens. The presentation will focus on coping skills and building resilience so that parents can help their teens to turn down anxiety and reengage in life."

Clubs & Activities
Leadership students pose with the "chain reaction" of uplifting messages that students wrote.
Leadership student, Madison Michael, poses with security staff member Ms. Gray. Madison "pinned" Ms. Gray with a positive message.
Words of affirmation were written on the mirrors in the bathrooms around school.
World Kindness Week - Planned by Student Leadership
World Kindness Week is a very important week at our school. SALC 2/3 students created "kindness" challenges" each day to remind students and staff of their worth in various ways.
Our students wrote positive messages on the bathroom mirrors, asked students to write positive messages on a paper strip to create a "chain reaction" of kindness to display, and passed around kindness pins to staff and students.
SALC prioritizes kindness and unity. We wish for our school to be a safe and positive environment and will set the state until we get there as a whole.
SALC would like to challenge you to think of someone who has had an impact on you. Take some time today to thank them. You can write a letter, send a text message, make a phone call or take the person out for coffee!
