About the Artist
Katherine van Kampen
is a Canadian artist whose creative journey has gracefully woven together the worlds of music and visual art. After earning her Master of Music degree from the University of British Columbia and her Associate Diploma (ARCT) in piano performance, she pursued a rich and successful career as a singer in both opera and oratorio, performing on stages around the world.
Now, having completed her solo singing career, Katherine is wholeheartedly devoted to expressing her heart through the medium of visual art. To her, color is music, and form and shape are their own kind of melody. She seeks to uplift and inspire through her paintings, guided by her deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ. Katherine’s paintings are available through the Vancouver Fine Art Gallery, and her website and on Artsy. These exhibit prints may be ordered by special request through www.kvkartdesign.ca.

What does an immigration story from over 100 years ago have to do with us today?
More than you might think.
Recreating a journey from the past isn’t easy — especially when it carries both deep trauma and cherished memories of a “golden era.” But those stories didn’t stay in the past. They live in us. They shaped our faith, our families, and our communities.
This journey isn’t just about history.
It’s about reconciliation.
It’s about belonging.
It’s about understanding how yesterday still speaks into today.
We carry so much of the past with us — the pain and the promise.
And maybe now, more than ever, it’s time to have that conversation.
Were your parents or grandparents part of the Russlaender immigration story? We would love to know!See you there!
