WLWV Community Update

All West Linn-Wilsonville School District families are invited to the Family Empowerment Center’s 2021-22 School Year Kick-Off Event on Tuesday, Aug. 24 from 5-7 p.m. in the Boeckman Creek parking lot!

A bus shuttle will be available beginning at 5 p.m. with pick up locations at Boones Ferry Primary and West Linn High School for families who need help with transportation.

In addition to music, snacks, and opportunities to meet other families, students who attend the FEC School Year Kick-Off Event will get access to many different resources for the coming school year. Some of the resources and opportunities include:

• School supplies like backpacks and notebooks (supplies are limited)

• Access to school staff for help signing up for district systems such as ListServ, ParentVue, and more;

• Access to nutrition services staff for information about school meals and help signing up for free and reduced lunch

• Information about several school and community services such as food banks, local rotary clubs, city libraries, and opportunities to volunteer with FEC and in the community

Todas las familias del Distrito Escolar de West Linn-Wilsonville están invitadas al evento del FEC que da inicio al año escolar 2021-22, el martes 24 de agosto de 5-7 p.m. en ¡el estacionamiento de la Escuela Primaria Boeckman Creek!

Un servicio especial de autobús estará disponible comenzando a las 5 p.m. con paradas en la Primaria Boones Ferry y Escuela Preparatoria West Linn, para las familias que necesiten ayuda con transportación.

Además de música, bocadillos y oportunidades de conocer a otras familias, los estudiantes que asistan al evento de FEC, tendrán acceso a diferentes recursos para el año escolar entrante. Algunos de estos recursos y oportunidades incluyen:

• Articulos escolares, tales como mochilas y cuadernos (en cantidades limitadas)

• Acceso al personal de la escuela, para inscribirse a sistemas tales como ListServ, ParentVue, y más;

• Acceso al personal de los servicios a la nutrición, para informarse acerca de los alimentos y poder inscribirse al programa de almuerzos escolares

• Información acerca de varios servicios de la comunidad y escolares, tales como bancos de comida, club rotarios y oportunidades para ser voluntario con el FEC y en la comunidad.

In honor of this, we are so excited to present a wonderful opportunity for us to learn together from Dr. Paula Kluth, author and inclusive education expert on Monday, August 30th from 4-5pm on Zoom. Dr. Kluth will be presenting, "Inclusive Education: What Every Parent Needs to Know." This is a chance for families across the district to join together virtually to learn more about Inclusive Practices and how they support all learners.

As we head into summer and gear up for the 2021-22 school year, now is a great time to update your ListServ subscriptions. Make sure to access your ListServ subscriptions and subscribe to your new school if you have a student graduating or changing schools. And don't forget to subscribe to WLWV-Homes to keep up-to-date on important District-level information.

ListServ is the primary method that West Linn-Wilsonville schools communicate with families, sending regular newsletters, timely information, and even emergency notifications. To sign up to get news from your school, simply go to www2.wlwv.k12.or.us/News/LatestNews/ListservSS/ and follow the directions.

The West Linn-Wilsonville School District hosted an information session for all students and families interested in the WLWV K12 Online Academy (WKOA) on June 29.

Families can learn more about the WLWV K12 Online Academy by visiting the district website and by watching the video recording of the information session.

The federal government has granted states authority to provide Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) for the entire 2020-21 school year. Oregon has received approval to begin providing benefits to eligible students. Benefits will be given to families of qualified students retroactively, providing food benefits to families whose children are missing the free or reduced-price meals typically provided at school.

P-EBT is now available for qualified West Linn-Wilsonville families (those who qualify for free and reduced lunch). Families who are eligible are encouraged to sign up for free and reduced lunch now to ensure they receive P-EBT benefits. Families who are signed up for free and reduced lunch are not required to fill out any additional information to receive P-EBT benefits. To learn more, please visit the nutrition services website, or access the informational flier below.

Families can also begin signing up for free and reduced lunch for the 2021-22 school year beginning July 1. While meals will continue to be free for all students, signing up for free and reduced lunch gives families access to P-EBT resources. For sign up information, please visit the nutrition services website.

Several Capital Construction Projects are underway across the district, more construction work planned this summer as part of the 2019 Capital Bond. Learn about major bond projects, construction time lines, quarterly reports, and more by visiting the bond website.

Construction will take place at several school sites during the summer.

Community members are also encouraged to sign up for project updates by signing up for Capital Bond Project ListServs.
