For Jenn Sublette, Western Albemarle has never just been a school—it has been home.

As she concludes her five-year tenure as principal, Ms. Sublette leaves behind a legacy that spans nearly every role imaginable. She first walked the halls of Western as a student, later returned as a teacher, then served as assistant principal, and ultimately led the school as principal. Few people have experienced Western from as many perspectives—or cared as deeply about its students and traditions.

As a student, Jenn embraced everything Western had to offer. She participated in Field Hockey, Drama, Yearbook, and Scholastic Bowl, serving as Yearbook Editor for two years. Looking back, she credits those experiences—and the people she shared them with—for shaping some of her favorite memories.

She fondly remembers the incredible Field Hockey coaching staff and the unique opportunity to work alongside her mother, who co-sponsored Drama, Yearbook, and Scholastic Bowl. Some traditions still make her smile today, including the cast and crew singing every verse of "There's a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea" before each drama performance and the unforgettable Field Hockey chant, "Wobble, wobble," inspired by a British assistant coach's term for dribbling the ball. And, of course, there were the bus rides to away games—windows down, proudly shouting Western cheers as the team rolled into opposing schools.

When asked what advice she would give today's Warriors, her answer reflects the spirit she has always championed:

"Enjoy all the opportunities WAHS has to offer. They will give you memories that stick with you 40 years later."

As Ms. Sublette begins her next chapter, the Western Albemarle community thanks her for a lifetime of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the students, staff, and traditions that make Western such a special place. Once a Warrior, always a Warrior.
