Dear Monomoy Middle School Families,
Welcome to the busy spring season. This week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, our students will be participating in MCAS testing. These days are important opportunities for students to show what they’ve learned and how they’ve grown. We know testing can sometimes bring on nerves, so we appreciate your partnership in helping our students feel confident and ready. A few simple strategies can make a big difference: ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives to school on time. A positive word of encouragement in the morning can also go a long way—remind them that all we ask is for them to try their best. We’re proud of their hard work and know they will do great!
In partnership,
Abby Dudley
Principal
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Sharing Food: Please remind your child that food should not be shared at school or on the bus, due to the fact that some students have food allergies. This is outlined in our School Handbook. To help keep everyone safe, our school is "Allergy Aware" and we ask all students and families to be mindful of what they bring and to never share or trade food.
Digital Safety and Mindfulness Assembly (4/15): The district has arranged for a visit from Mr. Guerry who is a Top Internet, Social Media, Cell Phone Safety, Cyber Bullying and Digital Citizenship Speaker to speak to our students. Middle school is a pivotal time for students to gain awareness of the impact of their online choices and we are hopeful that this presentation will support students as they are learning to navigate the online landscape. Please see the flyer below for an opportunity for families to hear from Mr. Guerry.
Preschool Sign up: Please visit the link to learn more about preschool sign up at Monomoy.
Early Arrival at School: Please note that morning activities begin at 7:35 am at the middle school. Students cannot expect to be let into the building if they arrive well before the start time of morning activities, as providing morning supervision is not a part of the custodians morning duty.
Thank you CAP 2U! A huge shout of to Mr. Jeff who visited MRMS this week to share his experience and messaging with our students. His presentation is about raising his own daughter with alopecia, and building confidence and self-esteem in any child living with unique circumstances. He also delivers a message of kindness and how being different is what makes us all normal. Our students and staff were captivated by his message and were an amazingly respectful audience.
Antibullying Lessons: Thanks to all 6th grade students and to our MRMS Ambassadors for your participation in our most recent round of antibullying lessons this week which focused on the impact of our words and language. It was so powerful for us to come together as a community to talk about this very important topic. The maturity that you all exhibited in these sessions was impressive!
OLD NEWS AND REMINDERS!

Arrivals After 8:45: Students who arrive after 8:45, should be dropped at the front door and need to sign into the office. We will be closing the side doors at 8:45 in the mornings to help make our morning routine smoother. Thanks!
