CNE Rocket Families,

In light of the recent tragedy at Apalachee High School, our hearts are heavy. Events like this are a stark and painful reminder of how precious our children are and the responsibility we have to ensure their safety. Please know that at Clermont Northeastern, the safety of our students is our top priority, and we take that responsibility very seriously.

We are committed to doing everything we can to prevent such tragedies. Our schools are equipped with multiple layers of safety measures, including secure doors, surveillance systems, safety drills, and collaboration with local law enforcement. Additionally, we focus on mental health support, threat assessment, and training our staff to respond swiftly and effectively to any potential danger.

Please be assured that our entire team works tirelessly to keep your children safe every day. As we continue to prioritize their well-being, we also encourage open communication between families and our schools. Together, we can create the safest environment possible for our students.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.

With Rocket Pride,

Tim Sies

District Safety & Reunification Drill Notice

At Clermont Northeastern Schools, we take the safety and security of our students very seriously. With the support of our community partners, including the local sheriff’s office, EMS, Fire, and the Emergency Management Agency (EMA), we implement various safety protocols to ensure the well-being of everyone on campus.

One of the key tools we use is Navigate360, a district-wide alert system. This system is designed to quickly communicate important safety information and is similar to those used in recent public safety events.

Safety Drills and Preparedness: To ensure we are prepared for various emergency situations, we regularly conduct safety drills and tabletop exercises. These discussions and exercises allow us to explore multiple scenarios and tailor our responses to the unique needs of our district.

Reunification Drill on October 3rd: As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, this drill is designed to educate students, families, and staff on the process of safely reunifying students with their families in the event of an emergency.

  • The drill will take place on campus.
  • It will involve a slight adjustment to the release times for families, and further details will be provided closer to the date.
  • Students will participate in an educational and nonthreatening exercise that teaches them the steps to remain safe during a reunification process.

School Safety Information Brief for Families

At Clermont Northeastern Schools, student safety is our top priority. We implement various safety measures to ensure a secure environment for all students. However, the most crucial element in our safety strategy is the role families play in supporting their children and promoting a strong sense of community.

Key Safety Measures:

  1. Prevention Starts at Home: The most effective way to keep our students safe is by being actively involved in their lives. Encourage open conversations, ask how their day was, and stay engaged with their activities. A strong family presence fosters trust and creates a supportive environment that helps students feel connected.

  2. Creating a Sense of Belonging: Children thrive when they feel connected to their school community. Encourage your child to get involved in school activities, clubs, or sports. This sense of belonging can help prevent isolation and behavioral issues that may arise from feeling disconnected.

  3. Noticing Changes in Behavior: Pay attention to any significant changes in your child’s behavior, such as withdrawal, aggression, or sudden shifts in mood or academic performance. Early intervention can prevent small problems from escalating into larger concerns. If you notice any concerning changes, don’t hesitate to reach out to school staff or counselors for support.

  4. Reporting Suspicious Activity: If you or your child observe any suspicious behavior, it's crucial to report it immediately. Whether it’s a student who seems troubled or any unusual activity around school grounds, timely reporting can prevent potential incidents and keep our school safe.

No Ball Policy Reminder

Rocket Nation:

In consideration for the general safety and enjoyment of all spectators at Yeager Stadium on game night, we put into place a "No Footballs allowed to be brought into the stadium" policy. I believe this policy will help protect the safety of all spectators and improve the game day atmosphere of our Friday night gatherings. What we have now are multiple "pick-up football games" going on in various spots around the stadium. Those pick-up games pose a safety issue as well as a distraction from the football team, the cheerleaders and the band who have worked so hard to put on a great evening.

I am asking that no one brings a football or any other type of ball into Yeager Stadium on game night. Those that do will kindly be asked to take the ball back out to the car. Thank you and Go Rockets!

Rocket Roundup

We have a very busy week of athletic events for all of our MS and HS Rocket teams. We invite everyone to get out and watch our student-athletes compete. Continued emphasis on incremental improvement in our athletes and programs. I encourage all of our student-athletes (SA's) and coaches to emphasize proper focus on nutrition, hydration, sleep, strength and conditioning, technique, grit, discipline, team first attitude, and a positive mindset. With preparation there is confidence and with confidence there is victory. Go Rockets!
