District STAR Math & Reading Assessments
All students will take the STAR assessments in English Language Arts and Math. These assessments help us understand students’ current skills and identify areas of strength and areas where additional support may be needed. Teachers will use the results to help guide instruction, monitor student growth, and provide targeted support throughout the school year.

A Message from Ms. Carlson
It was great to meet the new students this week and see our returning students!! Wow, some of you really grew over the summer!!! We are excited to work with this great group of new students!
Schedules: If a student has a question about their schedule, Mrs Carlson will be in her office at MHS in the mornings, before lunch. Students can email her as well if they have a question at acarlson@piedmont.k12.ca.us.
Add/Drop Deadlines:
Students can add classes up to 8/21 and drop classes up through the first 6 weeks of school.
New families: Please let us know how we can help you. For this coming week, please check that you have access to Infinite Campus (attendance, semester grades, progress/ marking period grades) and Schoology (day to day assignments and grades for your students that parents can see.)
And we understand that this transition to high school or back to MHS can be an adjustment. New people, new classes and teachers for some students. Or just waking up early again to get to school can be an adjustment. It's a lot! Please know, students, we are here to support you and understand that adjusting to school can take a little time. Lean on the adults at school and in your life for support. And always feel free to ask questions!!
Mobile Device Policy for 2026-27
We will be restricting all cell phone usage, bell-to-bell, this school year. This applies to all personal connected devices while on campus. The current Board Policy limits cell phone use during the school day to only a talk-and-text phone–a phone with only text and call features. A comprehensive list can be found in the student handbook on page 17.
We will be collecting smart phones, watches, earpods, personal laptops, glasses, etc. from students who have these devices out during the school day. From 8:30 AM to the end of the school day, these devices should be put away and out-of-sight. They should not be in your hand or visible at any time.
Violations of this policy will result in the following progressive level of consequences:
- 1st offense - Student may pick up their device at the end of the day from the principal
- 2nd offense and beyond - Student’s parent/guardian must pick up the device
Students with a pattern of cell phone abuse may be assigned to detention and/or may lose the privilege to have personal electronic devices at school.
Our objectives are to limit classroom disruptions and distractions. Our goal is to support students in maximizing their ability to learn and remain focused while at school.
