Bomber Bulletin
May/June 2026 Vol 5
From the Desk of Mr. Jendrysik
Our Class of 2026 graduation ceremony is tomorrow night at Bullens Field. We would be remiss if we didn't take this opportunity to thank our Class Advisors and Class Officers. Mrs. Biancuzzo, Mr. Kennedy, along with Colin, Skyler, Morgan, Emily, and Annika have been everything you could ever ask for in Class Leaders. Humble, present, caring, and attentive they have cultivated so many wonderful memories and meaningful experiences for the Class of 2026. From a strikingly gorgeous prom at Great Horse, to an exciting Red Sox game, fun Senior Sunset and emotional banquet, our final few weeks for our seniors have been special. But more than that, they have worked hard to create a culture of Bomber Pride that will long be remembered. As a school community we are grateful for their dedication to our school and their commitment to their Class! Thank you to our Advisors and Class Officers. Congratulations to our Class of 2026!
Teacher Appreciation Week
We celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week the first week of May. The WHS Admin Team had a surprise for each day, including delivering root beer and orange Crush floats to all staff for "Crushing" teaching!
A heartfelt thank you to our local business community for making Teacher Appreciation Week so special at Westfield High School! Thanks to the generosity of area businesses, more than 75 raffle prizes were awarded to our teachers and staff following a cookout sponsored by Firtion Adams and the WHS Administrative Team. We would also like to thank the Polish National Credit Union for generously providing a staff luncheon. This incredible support shown by our community is a wonderful reminder of how much our educators are valued. Thank you for helping us celebrate and appreciate our outstanding teachers and staff!

Students conversed freely, asking questions that arose throughout the three hour tour and were treated to lunch with on shift employees. WHS thanks MassPower for opening their doors once again to provide valuable insights to our electrical grid and what goes on behind the scene that allows us to simply flip a light switch for power.

Web Clinic
Free Web Clinic and Web Interns featured at Applied Learning Showcase
Students from the WHS Free Web Clinic and paid developers from our Web Development Internship shop presented (and collected client leads) at the Applied Learning Showcase on April 10th at the Reed Institute, gaining valuable client presentation skills and seeing the value of their learning through the eyes of showcase visitors.
When Showcase Coordinator Lindsey Ayers invited Computer Science teacher Bram Moreinis to bring his classes to the event, he had a lot of conditions: the students would need projectors or touchscreens in side rooms to present to groups at a time for 20 minutes instead of 10. He wanted to make sure the students could get into enough depth to be worth losing a few days of their tight development schedule to prepare, rehearse, and deliver these presentations at a level of quality that would benefit the students and their guests. Lindsey loved the challenge and made everything work perfectly for everyone, with support from Tech Coordinator Brian Dutko and the Mestek team.
Free Clinic students shared how they applied the user-based design process to their client sites, including a church, a culinary cafe, a tree removal company, a project manager and a human resources consulting firm. In the photo at left, Ethan and Ihor explain how this process helps web developers decide what to put where on a homepage. Here are a few comments from their guests:
- "VERY Impressed! The clean, clear presentation, thoughtfulness and precision of the presentation was unusually substantive. Ihor and Ethan were better than the people I have worked with on our own website!"
- "Dmytro's presentation skills, confidence and adaptability in answering questions were impressive. I imagine it can be a challenge to get this level of information from a client."
- "I loved how Fatima's presentation made it easy to understand the goals of the website and why she made certain decisions."
- "Anastasiia was very knowledgeable about the process of building websites and presented her ideas well."
Meanwhile, in the guests lobby, paid interns Muhammad, Brock and Marko invited guests from local businesses to submit their sites for a free consult. They "reverse-engineered" the sites, inferring from the designs and content what users (personas), user stories (reasons for coming to the site) and user flows (paths through the site to get what they wanted) were supported. Business representatives were very impressed and asked to be contacted next year when we take on new clients for $500 websites. Web shop prospects included:
- Jenn Donais, masslearning.org
- Matt Kleszczynski, mestek.com
- Richard "Kick" Syllivan, lyonfitzpatrick.com
- Megan Harrington, thereedinstitute.com
- Matthew Frazier, strumsdeliandmeats.com
- Claire Sullivan, one8.org
We are very grateful for Applied Learning Showcase organizer Lindsey Ayers for her incredible dedication and attention to detail, warm support, and commitment to student experience, as well as support and enthusiasm from Science Department Chair Christina Smith. Thank you, Mestek, for hosting and supporting this meaningful event. We''ll see you again next year for sure!
